Two years of Monahan doesn't come anywhere close to making the Jets think about moving Dubois.

Dubois sucked but I wouldn't trade him for Monahan, if there was something else interesting coming the Jets way I'd maybe consider it.

You act like the Jets are going to panic and sell Dubois at a massive discount after an injury riddled, shortened, covid season. Why would Winnipeg take an outright downgrade and weaken their team with no incentive to do so when they intend on being a playoff contender?

Not saying this is a good trade but Monahan is not a downgrade...has PLD outscored Monahan any year in his career? The only thing he has on Monahan is age

Fortunately, there's a lot more to hockey than just points. No matter how you want to try and rationalize it, Monahan is a downgrade on Dubois even before factoring in age and contract. There's a reason Flames fans want to move on from him.

Not sure how anyone can say Dubois is better than Monahan, literally compare their numbers by age and Mony smokes him. Regular 30 goal guy vs. guy who had one okay season with Panarin (Monahan AVERAGED 30g, 68pts per 82gp from 2014-19, his age 20-24 seasons, both numbers the 23yo PLD has never hit even once). Also only one of them has gotten Selke votes and it’s not Dubois lol

Anyway this trade is horrific for Calgary, take out Mangiapane and the Flames would give up those pieces for Eichel and let the rest of the teams figure out their stuff

Np! Also minor correction, Monahan averaged 31 goals not 30 per 82gp. And the Sens would take that Strome trade.

What does PLD have over Monahan? Other then his age... PLD quit on his team maybe that's an enduring quality for Winnipeg fans but I don't see it that way.

Cool. Monahan's last two seasons kind of really define the direction he's heading. You're much better off hanging onto him because two years of him wouldn't entice Winnipeg even slightly if they entertained moving Dubois. Which they aren't looking to do at this time.

The last 2 year what has PLD done better then Monahan? Points totals are very similar. Like I said earlier not saying it's a good trade but if anything according to the numbers Calgary is getting the shaft in this deal while Winnipeg actually comes out with a better player by the numbers....

Yes, of course Calgary fans want to ignore things like Monahan's age compared to Dubois, his contract situation, that he's seriously trending down and class Calgary would love to move him. Winnipeg flat out gets pwned of they trade Dubois for Monahan.

Last year Monahan had his worst season in the NHL. He had 7 more points the PLD at least Monahan has somewhere to trend down from...

Yup, that's cool. No one is saying that Monahan wasn't a very good player at one time. The problem is, he's not that good anymore and the Jets would be trading for Monahan now, not Monahan from 5 years ago.

Every team not Buffalo declines.
OMW that is a boat load for Jack Eichel.
Monahan I would imagine he could be flipped for another first
Mangiapane If Buffalo were to take on a cap dump for example Byron from MTL, I think he could return another first .
Zary decent prospect easily worth a first .
Georgiev Buffalo does not need a GK prospect but maybe Edmonton would be interested to trade a first and Koskinen to upgrade and shed cap.
2022 first round pick (NYR)
2022 first round pick (CGY)
I could see Buffalo< with a little imagination getting, 3 additional first round draft picks with the proper trades.
Great way to jump start a rebuild with 7 first round picks in a draft that is loaded.
That haul is worth nearly 6 first round draft picks.
Yup every team says no except Buffalo.

Yeah but at the same time... doesn't this remind you a bit of the Brassard-Zibanejad+2nd trade?
