I wouldn't phrase it as "get rid of", but I do believe that trading Tavares is the best way for the Leafs to improve.
He's a 1C, a luxury to have on your 2nd line if everything else is solid and in place and you can afford it.

Trading him for a decent 2nd line C and solid defenceman, where you can get a good few years out of each at an equal/lower salary total, could be an improvement overall.

Lindholm is more of a 1C, and on a bargain contract, so perhaps a lofty target. There's no incentive to trade for a 1C when you already have one.
Something around Gourde and Dunn from Seattle would be more reasonable, provided you are confident in both players. (That's just an example of what to look for, not of trade value.)
A 2C that is or can be signed for 2C money with the extra going towards upgrading defense.

Oilers forward depth chart is full I don’t even see a roster spot for yam who still needs to be signed. Under different circumstances I wouldn’t have been against taking simmonds on but it’s too late into the offseason for that move.
