That would be great return for Jack.
The retention kills the deal.
All good teams carry 2 or 3 players earning about $750,000 each.
$2,000,000 retention means a team needs to carry 5 to 6 players earning the league minimum.
I have felt for some time now, if Jack is traded to the Rangers it will be for Strome, Kakko, Georgiev, first and maybe a second.
I have seen an alternative that has Jack and Miller traded to the Rangers for Trouba, and more.
Trouba to make the cap work and Miller to take a spot on the RHD.
But nothing as generous as this offer.
On the other hand, Buffalo may be able to absorb the $2,000,000.
If they keep their prospects in Rochester this year, their ELC's will expire in 4 years, so the cap issue will only need to be addressed in the fifth year.
So while it may seem I am taking both sides, I wanted to explain why the retention is bad before I said, Buffalo would be crazy to not take the trade posted.

Hows that RW situation looking after 2022?

This team needs to start looking at this year harder and go year to year like Tampa etc. You know, the teams that actually win. Tired of not even making the playoffs with what we have.

Now the problem with your team is that it doesn't make any sense cap wise going forward... : P

When has a player gotten anywhere near this kind of return? Healthy or not. When was the last time a 24 yo, signed for 5 more years with the talent of Eichel was traded?
