Brown 100% should get the same as Coleman, Barron and a 1st is way more realistic

Not close at all. It would require an overpayment. We have no interest in trading him.

coleman got his return bc of how cheap his contract was. A 1st and Barron is way too much at 3.6m in comparison to Coleman who was what 1.25m? Kaut and a 2nd doesnt get it done but a 1st and Barron is just a massive over pay for a 2nd line winger

edit: my bad missed the retention in the deal

Starting bid for Connor Brown is a 1st round pick and a prospect recently drafted in the 1st round.

At least the same as Blake Coleman.

This ain't it chief.

Ottawa is retaining 50% on CB in this post.

Same cap hit for Colorado as it was for Tampa on Coleman.

didnt notice the retention. so yes to get 50% retained on Brown more has to be given up. Especially for Eugene who is so cheap, hes not paying salary for someone and not getting the benefit out of it

Barron is off the table, but Helleson is who I would part with with a 1st for this type of move.

Agree with that. And if Brown is retained 50%, he certainly should get Coleman-esque return.

But Justin Barron is better prospect than Foote.
So maybe Barron, 2nd (plus a 3rd for the retention)?

Also have to consider the fact that Ottawa is not at all interested in trading him.

Just out of curiosity ...

Would you do Oskar Olausson + 2023 1st round pick for Connor Brown at 1.8 million?

Would be tough to trade Oskar after just drafting him
But would trade him over Barron.

Just saying if a team is not interested in not trading a player, you will have to give more to get him if you really need em

Not my trade idea, I am not justifying that the sens want to or going to trade him

Simply talking about value that’s it

Don’t try to read more into it than that

I just went off some other trade proposals in the Connor Brown "value of" thread on Hfboards.

It's all moot point now anyways as Kaut apparently got injured in practice by losing an edge and going leg-first into the boards and had to be helped off the ice. Hopefully he's ok, this would be a terrible time for him to get hurt (though I guess on the plus side for him he'll be collecting an NHL salary on IR for a while if he's hurt).

If we're parting ways with a 1st and/or Barron here I'd rather hold onto those assets and go after a big fish like Forsberg instead.

no one is talking about Brett Connolly, there is no point in brining him up and trying to interject a hawks player into an avs and brown trade conversation

I’d rather just give Kaut or Ranta a chance at least at the start of the season, TDL might be different.

That's where I'm at as well. Avs should be a playoff team regardless so they can probably afford to give it at least 20-25 games to give some young guys a shot at the roster.

The further into the season we get the more capspace will be accrued meaning that we won't be as hard pressed to move out salary to bring someone in too. But should we still need to move cap out to facilitate a trade, Compher's $4.5m salary ($3.5m caphit) will also be more tradeable as well the deeper into the season we get. Not to mention teams who are struggling with injuries might be more amenable to taking contracts on using LTIR capspace.

I dont really see what makes Barron a relevantly better prospect
