So when a young NHL player is on the roster bubble, the team will cover short-term housing expenses (usually in a hotel). Once they have made the team to stay, they get a letter, that essentially says, "sign a lease". If Kravtsov, or any other player, chooses to sign a lease or buy a house before that letter arrives, its on them.
So he shouldn't have double the expense. And even if he does sign a lease in Hartford and gets called up...the team covers that too (and it doesn't count against the cap).
Its all in the CBA
While I know the league does some things, you realize he came over last year from the KHL which he went back to because he didn't want to be in the AHL and went straight to the NHL. He did a stint at the AHL once, and chose to go back to the KHL.
So when this year started, where do you think he was expecting to land.
Now it's easy to say, it's on them, and I'm not saying it's not.
What I am saying, is, the thought that was going around was, it's a financial issue. Brought on by the belief he was going to stay at the NHL level.
What they were getting at is, he came back to play at the NHL level, and committed to do that. But when they dumped him back into the AHL, that wasn't going to work and put him in a bind.
It is what it is. The NHL sure as hell wasn't going to house him all year long if he needed a place to stay. It would make sense that he made that place NY.
Anyway, that's the gist of what I saw posted. Take it or leave it.
