From outsiders perspective, that WPG deal looks tempting.

Although, right now they have quite a few D-men locked up at reasonable dollars with term. Ehlers is a pretty important piece to them team. I think they eventually say no.

There is nothing even remotely reported that would ever indicate mack is out long term

And if he was they aren’t burning down their future trading in a panic

Winnipeg isn't moving Ehlers but if they were going to there's nothing in that offer that gets the Jets to even start to discuss moving him.

You'd have to massively overpay to get Ehlers, nothing of interest here for the Jets.

Using your premise, I think a move for Dylan Strome could be an interesting option -- he's produced before, but can't catch a break in CHI right now. Maybe Tierney? Neither guy should be too pricey to acquire and can fill in as reasonable depth when MacKinnon returns.
