surprised they signed him this early but I am not mad at all, Petrov is such a steal all the major scouting networks 4th even 3rd round pick and we got him in the 6th, it is so funny that the Maple Laughs could have this pick in exchange for Hymans rights but no they had to make Oilers fans wait until day 1 of free agency

He was not the pick we were gonna get. The pick that became Shane Lachance was the pick Holland was offering to Dubas for the extra year of Hyman. But with Shane Lachance projections being really bad dodged a bullet there. In general Hyman's contract will age like Milk and basically be Lucic 2.0 so meh were good
Fantastic talent. 1st overall in the OHL Import Draft but 180th overall in the NHL draft... 14, 10-8-18 +4 in the OHL as an 18-year-old. Great skater, creative, great shot, 6'2 - this guy has all the tools to be an NHLer in 2-3 years.

Human's contract has absolutely nothing to do with Dubas refusing a late pick for his rights. Nothing.

No it does. Getting that 8th year is a weapon in this modern age. Either pay up or deal with it. That 8th year was worth more than a 6th. Holland could have had an extra year of Hyman over a guy like Bourgault but chose otherwise. Oh well for him
Now not saying it had to be his pick but 365 days more of Hyman looks a lot better than this guy

Are you suggesting the 8th year for Hyman should have cost a 1st round pick?? Because that's ludicrous. Bourgault is leading the QMJHL in scoring this year so far and looks a lot better than that chart might suggest.

No I'm just saying it's worth more than what this guy's gonna bring. As man looking like an 1st round disappointment candidate
The pick Holland should have offered was the one that became Münzenberger but anyways what's past is past
How does Bourgault have anything to do with Matvei Petrov? No idea what you're talking about
I'm saying instead of drafting a either Bourgault or Muzenberger, Holland could have got another year of Hyman on a cheaper deal but he didn't. The connection to Petrov was people were saying that was the pick that Holland offered to Toronto for him which was false. The pick offered was Pittsburgh's or Lachsnce's which ironically was the pick they got for Marino Rip. But in this age a 6th for an extra year is nothing as cap space be a weapon and you got to pay to get the better deals
Anyways he made his choice and by the looks of things should have taken the 8th year cheaper Hyman deal

Wait, WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK? First you say that the Hyman contract will age badly, then you say that making the contract EVEN LONGER is worth a high draft pick?
