Description
The lowball offers for Miller are crazy to think if the Canucks move him they will get back what they paid. His last season in Tampa he had 47 points and Tampa was up against the cap so sold him probably for lower value. Miller has improved as a player since coming to Vancouver and has been a ppg player for 3 years since coming to the Canucks. He would also be leading the Wild in scoring currently and can play the teams biggest need at center.

If the Wild want to make a playoff push and have Miller for two playoff runs it’s going to be a big price. If they don’t want to pay that price.. fine move on and they can look somewhere else if they are trying to go on a run.

I think Greenway coming back makes sense for both sides to make salary work and gives The Canucks a roster player with size to fill some of that void. The second peice coming back has to be a top prospect. Minnesota’s top prospects include Rossi, Boldy and Addison. I don’t believe the Wild want to move Addison or Rossi as those are two players filling big organizational needs in Center and right d so that leaves Boldy.

Obviously Wild fans won’t want to move him either which is fair as he is a really good prospect but that should be the ask/parameters of a deal involving a ppg player who plays with some jam and is built for playoffs. If the Wild want Miller retained then they would have to throw in a pick for paying some of his salary. If they wanna pay his full salary then no pick is needed

I don’t trust the Canucks gm to actually pull something like this off… but this would be what Canucks fans should be looking for in a return IMO.

If you have constructive feedback and can articulate why you agree or disagree that’s fair. Just saying wild say no is a bad take and you are wasting time.

It's a shame he is in Vancouver because I think he's a perfect target for the Flames and the type of game they want to play, with one more year on a pretty decent deal for him it would sure fit their time line well going forward. Calgary would need to move Monahan somewhere to make the cap work but if Gaudreau or Tkachuk were to part way with the Flames Miller isn't a bad contingency plan in the top 6. The fact he can also slide to C sure helps if Monahan continues to drool down his chest this season.

Actually don't think that's a bad deal tbh but hey I'm not a wild fan

Only thing id say to consider is the "what have you done for me now scenario?" and what I mean by that is, while its fine to look at what Tampa got for Miller as a comparable with how "down bad" the canucks are now its hard to ask for similar return.

But don't get me wrong Miller's a hell of a player and should fetch a decent return as long as Benning doesn't **** it up

There’s also Khusnutdinov and Beckman as great prospects.

I think boldy, rossi and Addison are untouchables for the wild. Beckman would be the best prospect target.

Personally, I wouldn’t trade Boldy for Miller 1:1.

1) Miller isn't an elite tier center. So unless his last name starts with Pettersson, he's not getting any one of Rossi, Boldy, or Addison back in the trade. He's not worth a top 50 prospect.

Period.

2) The prospects that Miller would be able to get back with only two years on his current contract is someone like either Khusnutdinov, Beckman or Hunt.

Given our needs at center, it likely wouldn't be Khusnutdinov. Leaving either Beckman or Hunt. Daemon Hunt may be a lefty, but he can and does play the right side.

3) We don't need retention and aren't paying for it.

We don't need the retention with Spurgeon going on LTIR, so the 2nd can be taken off as well.

I'm not sure Miller gets you a top prospect. Yes, he would lead our scoring but that's because he has played more games. Miller isn't that good of a play driver and had his best season as a winger.

So Boldy is a no-go. He is a stud, 22 points in 16 AHL games as a 20-year-old. Would a 1st round pick +Greenway or another prospect in the realm of Beckman +Greenway do it instead?

I mean, why wouldn’t recouping what was paid be worth it? It means VAN got Miller for 2 years for free, and don’t forget the cost paid was for 4 years of his contract rather than 1 and a half.

Lol if the 2nd becomes a 1st it’s fair. If boldy is “untouchable” then you better be ready to move dumba cause you gotta give to get and your c level prospects don’t get you Miller especially with retention
