Buffalo is rebuilding why would they grade there 1st. And why would Price waive to that dumpster fire?

Sorry bud. I see this your first post. Teams just cannot trade for multi year, big contract players....especially those on "iffy" value contracts. Other teams don't have the cap for that without sending cap back in a trade. Or even if they have cap, in many cases they would rather just sign a UFA with cap and keep their draft choices.
In a cap league with so many teams near cap.....player dumps are getting more. and more impossible.

Is there any reason why Habs overrate their player's value more than any other fanbase? Is this all media's fault?

I don't think they will need to do it, but there is a reason they might. Having Weber on their roster reduces the eventual recapture penalty should Weber retire.
If they know Weber will retire early, there's incentive.

Why would he retire early and give up all that money?

The last 3 years are all $1M for a reason. The original plan was likely for him to actually retire and leave those 3 years on the table. He wouldn't have wanted to be obligated to play those 3 years for that little money, but he didn't expect that choice to be taken out of his hands.

The only thing that has really changed, is the institution of cap recapture penalties, which frankly aren't his problem. He's a nice guy and I can't see him doing that to anybody if he can help it, but if for some reason he IS forced to make that decision, it will hurt Nashville.

Just as an example, let's say he no longer qualifies for LTIR. Is he going to leave his full cap hit for the Habs to deal with, or is he going to leave Nashville with a penalty?

Again. I'm not saying any of this is likely, only that there is a legitimate reason for Nashville to "want" his contract on their books.

That way Nashville can buyout Weber's contract who is retiring.

MTL paid a 1st for Dvorak, and CBJ is trying to get rid of Domi.

IMO the overrating was caused by the Habs unlikely Cup run last season. Reality was they made the playoffs by four points in the Northern Division then caught fire in the playoffs. The "value" bar for the players is based on the being a Cup Finalist team. Reality is they were had middling talent to begin the season, and now even the value of some of the players have decreased.

I had no idea they were trying to "get rid" of Domi... He has 9 pts in 10 games and is +5 in only 13:01 of ice-time per game

And I think Montreal realizes now that Dvorak maybe wasn't worth what they paid.

Columbus should try to re-sign Domi instead but if they can't, they shouldn't be giving futures (like a 2nd) for a lesser player

Good point and since I haven't been looking at this ACGM section before, hard to compare. I have been on hockey forums for a long time but CF is really the place you can directly see how fans value their players.

That being said, I think the medias here play a huge part. They have/had dinosaurs like Ron Fournier praising some players like they're almost Gods. Carey Price for example, I think it was last winter, I heard him on the radio saying that if the Habs were to trade him, they could get a good young defenseman like Cale Makar... Speaking of Makar, I think it was JC Lajoie who said "we also have a pure blood like Makar in Alexander Romanov"

    I mean... Help

Imagine how some of them must have felt when Price went unclaimed by Seattle. And I like Price but there's this thing called reality.
