Let's not, let's try to build actual talent around them besides DeBrincat and Jones. I think both get a pay cut after their contracts expire, Toews a bigger pay cut if he doesn't retire outright. There will be cap available to make additions in 2023.

I'm really interested to see what Kanes next deal is. I think toews will sign 1 year deals until he retires but I could see kane some term.

I am too, I'm more interested to see how they use the available cap to build the supporting cast. There's too many 4th liners on this team, they need to add some legitimate talent.

So Murphy signs a club friendly extension, and before he plays a minute of it you ship him out? really bad policy

To a team that can't even use him.

Nope from the Oilers. Goaltending has not been the reason they are losing games. It’s all in the lack of scoring. If a 1st and really good prospect are getting moved, it’s to address those needs first. A 37 year old ain’t the answer

This is truth. This is what has to happen and eventually Toews will progress to a 3rd line centre as Dach and co develop hopefully. Kane will continue to be elite as long as his body lets him.

Don’t want Kane for that. This is crap for us long term. No point in thinking only of this year.

I doubt Toews gets more than $5M per and I think that is pretty generous. He can probably be signed for even less, although I'm convinced he's close to retiring.

depending on how he finishes the season and next I was thinking ~6m so between 5-6 is a good estimate on 1 year deals and if its less obviously it even better for us.

Considering his role is quickly diminishing and his scoring is limited, I really think he'll sign for less. We'll see how it all plays out, i'm still thinking he retires and moves into an advisor-type role.

I mean, hes signed for 4 years at 4.4 after this year, so hes not a rental. No reason to trade him unless we can get a 1st or a good prospect
