i'd argue that wideman > sceviour, because He MaDe NhL.cOm'S aLl StAr LiSt
but seriously, wideman's been better than expected this season.,

anyway MTL doesnt need barrie, because they've got petry and savard already there. no need to add another RD

We only have Petry and Savard we could use another RHD tbh

I wouldn’t mind targeting Hoffman. Probably a lot cheaper than Toffoli. Would be nice to have a legitimate shooter in our top 6 to play with either 97 or 29.

This is an interesting deal— I think EDM would need to add a pick, but not bad.

The habs say no simply because its not a trade that does anything for them.

With how trash Barrie is playing actual defense the gap between what he brings and what Wideman brings is pretty small and he costs 6x as much.

With Hoffman they should be atleast able to dump him at the deadline for nothing if they really want to but teams will not likely take Barrie.

Habs likely want futures. Not sure this trade meets their Trade Needs.

MTL doesn't need Hoffman either. The point here is the Habs have too many FWDS not enough D. The Wideman for Sceviour part isn't important, just throw in's.

Hoffman is a 1 dimensional forward exactly the same way Barrie is a 1 dimensional dman. Habs are simply replacing a forward, which they have oodles of already, with a dman, which they don't have many quality ones of. No one loses cap, no one loses term. Its a simple change of scenery for both teams. I added Wideman and Sceviour but they can be removed, they're not the point of this trade at all.

Secondly, Hoffman right now has as much value as Barrie does. Not one single team will take on either guy for just a pick. They make too much money and are too 1 dimensional. So either they are traded for another player of equal value/status etc (My AGM) Or they are traded to another team for a player with less term and salary (But much worse than Hoffman and Barrie) and a mid draft pick. I simply chose to give both guys a shot on teams where their skills will be better utilized. Low risk, hopefully better reward for both teams.

I personally would rather the Habs trade Hoffman for a crappier player with a draft pick because I want them to rebuild but this AGM is just showing another option they could try if they didn't want to go that route.

I think Barrie makes MTL way worse than Hoffman, so I say yes it does help us getting a better pick in 2023, hopefully Bedard. So that’s a win-win trade lol
