Montréal definitely does that. I’d probably still do it if it was Lapierre and a 2nd too.

Canucks would want one of McMichael or Lapierre in a Miller deal.

If you want Miller with retention it's gonna cost you Lapierre/McMichael, Iorio, and a 1st

Nope Lapierre/McMichael, Iorio, and a 1st. Maybe a 2nd instead of Iorio but then I'd want McMichael

If we're getting those two prospects then the pick could probably be downgraded, maybe made conditional or something. Conditional 2nd and if you make it past the 2nd round it becomes a 1st. Something like that.

Great idea. Those are our two best prospects so that would work

Caps should never trade Lapierre for Toffoli. That’s a big overpaymemt, the 1st and maybe a mid pick should make it.

I don't see Montreal retaining on Toffoli, he's very good and unless you are going to overpay, they simply aren't interested.

Is that not an overpay. It’s our best prospect and a first

).
At 50% retained, I'd say that's a fair deal. I would accept that for Toffoli straight up (not retained). It's too late 1st's, so it's not like they are great assets.
