If DAL trades Klingberg that means we're giving up on the year, which means we are not moving picks. This doesn't make sense.

Couldn't it also mean you're re-tooling and getting a lesser talent back who plays somewhat similarly and also under contract at a reasonable cost? That's how I thought about it.

Maybe in the future, but not with 2022 picks.

This seems more like an offseason move anyway. Not that we'd move Hakanpää though, he's got a cemented role in our system.

I'd offer like Glendening+2023 3rd for Barrie, maybe with a condition that would turn out into a 2nd if he scores enough points.

Yea not sure Glendening is gonna work LOL. Maybe Dallas isn't the right trade partner, Edmonton has Bouchard who's not yet proven like Barrie is offensively, but in time will run the PP. We need another RHD shutdown defenceman type. Obviously Hakanpaa is a great fit but I'm guessing there's someone else out there as well.

Why do oilers fans always include their bottom 6/bottom pair D that NO ONE WANTS. Players like Kassian, Barrie, Koekkoek, Lagesson, Turris, Ryan, Shore, Koskinen have zero value.

Why do Habs fans think Price is worth a 1st and/or
A-prospects??!

It’s far more likely that Price at 3-5M retained gets a 1st than the kinds of proposals with those Edmonton players.

And keep in mind, a price trade to even happen would be contingent on him returning and playing up to his standards. No one has said someone should trade a 1st for Price now. Lol..

If price comes back and proves he can still play like he did in the playoffs the last 2 years , I guarantee someone’s paying a 1st lol especially if there is retention

There's proposals on here constantly from Habs fans with explanations of why in their opinions he still is some super valuable asset and he doesn't get enough respect when the reality is the complete opposite, even at 50% retention there's big risk in acquiring Price.

As I mentioned most of those proposals are made under the assumption that a trade would only happen once he comes and proves he can play. I don’t think any reasonable Hab fan is saying that he should get a super high return *now*. Once he comes back and if he proves he’s still be a top 10 goalie in the league, then I think teams are not taking as big of a risk in acquiring him. It’s kind of funny though…other teams were saying we only made it to the finals last year because of Price and now somehow he’s worthless. I think the value is somewhere in between….

I agree with you there, if he comes back and plays well he ups his value that changes things but even then I still think he carries a big risk at his age and injury history, don't see him returning any A-prospects or multiple 1st round picks to Montreal, his NMC complicates it too.

Also to your original comment as to why Oilers fans include those guys well every fan does that on here, teams take back guys to facilitate trades and its really not a big deal with expiring contracts or guys who make like a million or less.
Yeah a guy like Kassian who has a bigger cap hit and term wouldn't be accepted as just a throw in to facilitate a trade to make the cap work for Edmonton but a guy like Lagesson makes like league minimum, Chicago can send him to the minors if they don't like his play and he doesn't effect their cap at all.

CHI is not going to want a body back if trading CDH unless its a forward prospect that holds some value.
