You realize you are paying your 3rd pairing defenseman $4,110,731 right? It's not like the guys above him are going to age out or anything either.

I do. I’m figuring that you’ve got a clear first pairing and then two second pairings, if that makes any sense.

I don't see NSH being interested in either player honestly -- Tippet is too expensive and Liljegren probably wouldn't fit Hynes' system.

I think these are interesting targets. But I wonder if you could simply get Tippett from Florida for that without the OS? Feels like he is expendable

Don’t really see what liljegren has done to warrant that interest.

It doesn't make a lot of sense. The 2 guys above him are coming up on new contracts after the 22-23 season and you just gave the 3rd pairing guy 4 mil aav. Imagine what their asks are going to start at.

So maybe at the lower end of that second round pick offer sheet category?

As I see it, this should be used in the same way the KK offer sheet was used. Target a team that will be severely cap strapped, pay the player more than they are worth, and give the other team a very tough decision on whether to screw their cap situation further or just cut their losses. The only problem I have with these offer sheets, is the term. If you make the offer sheet for one year, if an extension can be agreed on, the player can be resigned at a lower cap hit as soon as the off season. Nashville has the cap space to overpay a couple players for a year, and then resign them at a lower cap hit the next year. Even if this were to happen, Nashville still has 8 mil in cap space, which can be used to add at the deadline.

Liljegren will be. He played 11 games in 19-20 and this season for the 2 pro seasons required of a 23 year old.

I'm not sure that you want to pay Tippett 6 milion dollars. If you trade for him you can sign him for a lot less... and it wouldn't cost you a 1st and a 3rd

He won't be playing the 80 games required for an offer sheet.

A number not found in the offer sheet FAQ. He's a group 2 RFA and therefor eligible for an offer sheet.

So. Even Quinn Hughes wasn't offer sheet eligible last summer, and he had more than 80 games. Ending the ELC contract doesn't necessarily allow an offer sheet/

Quinn Hughes was a 21 year old with less than 3 professional seasons. He wasn't eligible because of his pro experience. Liljegren however is older than Hughes and requires less years pro to be offer sheet eligible. If you are going to argue this with me, you should at least take a quick glance at the CBA and Offer Sheet FAQ on this site to have the slightest idea of what you are arguing about first.

I have found the 80 game loophole. But it is not included in the the tools on this site, which mentions just the compensation. But thanks for your lazy insight. I'll show you the link.

Would NSH be interested in a player like Drouin half retained for a guy like Myers and maybe a late pick? Kind of like a 1.5 year rental.

J. Drouin (50%_2,750,000X2)
for
P. Myers (2,550,000X2)
2023 3rd or 4th round pick
