The Flames really need better depth, or they need to add better mid-lineup players to push those guys out of the lineup. I don’t want any of them playing in the playoffs. Lewis has been fine as a 4th line winger (8 points in 39 games, useful PKer), and Ruzicka has been better than the vets above (3 points in 8 games), so I don’t mind them on the 4th line. I’d prefer Lucic be the 4LW, so hopefully we bring in someone like Miller, Hertl, Pavelski, Kessel, etc. for the middle six. I wouldn’t hate bringing in a better 4th liner type to be our spare forward. Or even bringing in 2 pieces (like Kessel+Miller), bumping Monahan to 4C, and Ruzicka as our spare forward (top line, Mangiapane-Miller-Kessel / Coleman-Backlund-Dube / Lucic-Monahan-Lewis would be great).

Pavelski would be perfect for the flames if they are looking for a big piece

Heck Tippett from Florida is available. Should they be looking for a depth wing who can do it all

I mean I’d love Tippett, but idk how much he’d cost, and it doesn’t make sense for Florida to deal him for picks. He’ll probably get traded for an upgrade somewhere else, maybe for Chiarot, definitely for Chychrun. Pavelski would be really nice, but he’ll bring in a 1st+, and I feel like a team that really needs PP help might outbid us there (Tkachuk does everything Pavelski does in front of the net, so Pavs would be PP2 for us). I wouldn’t hate doing 1st+Zary for Miller (maybe more for retention, getting him partially retained for next year as well would be excellent) and then a 2nd for Kessel half-retained.

I think a fair price for Tippett is what Florida paid for Bennett or a 2nd and 3rd probs gets it done

For those wondering

The only two trades of consequence I need to see not performed by the Oilers by the start of next season are:

- Chychrun to Florida for Knight, Hornqvist, Tippett, and a 1st
- Turcotte, Grans, and a second for Sergachev

Those have been kicking around in my head for a minute and they make too much sense to not happen.

Way better than the grey RR ones from last year.
