That was wishful thinking by the Toronto media. Besides Bertuzzi can't even play in Canada. Bertuzzi is from Sudbury.

Bertuzzi could sign with his home town team sure if Leafs give him a fair offer and he leaves Detroit, either via expiring or a trade.

Problem is that the guy is over a PPG player in a bad team so he's gonna be eeeeeeexpensive.

there were no rumours that the leafs were doing anything but 'looking into' Bertuzzi. Like literally every team does with literally every good player that comes to market.
His vax BS would have stopped that interest right quick if it was legit too

First of all, he would not be able to play any of your home games, plus about a third of your road games. And that's before we even get to the locker room disruption he causes. Secondly, that package you want to send for him is not even close to adequate.

Nope, wrong. Elliotte Friedman said that the Leafs were targeting Tyler Bertuzzi

If the guy can’t play in Canada it seems like that would be a pointless trade

Would have been super fun to pay big assets for a guy who couldn't play like 60 games due to not believing in science

nope, wrong, Elliot Friedman said the leafs were looking at a player "like" Tyler Bertuzzi because he could potentially replace Hyman and that they could 'possibly' target him. So he was speculating. Like always.

Sure Bertuzzi is nice but where does his 4.875m fit into the Leafs next season or even this season. He is a UFA in the summer of 2023.
Funny how you mention Bertuzzi has been a hometown boy. Gee, he doesn't even want to visit his native country.

Every insider says the leafs are looking into or targeting every single player. I don't think I've ever watched a trade rumour segment or read an article that didn't have that player going to Toronto. I'm all reality every gm on every team most likely calls about almost every player, Toronto just gets focused.

I dont think a lot of people realize that GMs do that on the daily, they are always calling other GMS checking on players, wondering about their values. Its their job to know whats on the market and what it will cost. 32 GMs are not working in the shadows from one another.

You could do a random Generator of X Team is Looking into X Player and you probably could find a radio piece of a insider headline saying that. Interest isnt trade talks

yep, and people here take that blatant click speculation and spread it like it's gospel, hoping it's true. The most recent is the Chariot stuff. Literally no one said he would actually get a 1st and we still get 20 AGM's a day where people are convinced he's gonna get a 1st

yup exactly. Insiders are giving their opinions or feeding a narrative that a GM provided with that info. Or when they say I have talked to a few scouts and they think that player can get a 1st round pick. Scouts arent GMs, their opinions mean nothing when it comes to actual trade talks.

Friedman in this case is the most careful insider when choosing his words, he never says anything that says this team is definitely trying to trade for X Player. He always says its his thoughts, or his beliefs. But like you said...OMG OUR TEAM IS GOING ALL IN FOR THIS GUY.

Elliotte Friedman said that the Leafs wanted to trade for Tyler Bertuzzi, but stopped the talks when he got hurt. However, let's ignore the most respected insider in the NHL

He never said that, he said that the leafs has interest in bertuzzi before his back surgery. He didnt say the Leafs wanted to trade for him, that they were in trade talks for him. He also says perhaps they revisit that if Hyman leaves in UFA...Interest isnt anything more than that. He could say leafs are interest in McDavid and the same startemtn is true. Its not trade talks or trade efforts, its a team liking the player and seeing a fit there if they went out and got him.

unless you find the direct quote...its just interest bc all the radio hits article that have been transcribed about this, do not say the Leafs had plans on trading for him, they say they had interest in the player, which is what we have mentioned before....the team likes the player, would love to add him.

As a Wing's fan I read what he wrote and it said, Leafs like Bertuzzi and had interest or should have interest but he knew of no trade discussions. He did say if he was on the block they should inquire about him. No where in his 31 thoughts did he day they are trading for him. You are taking what was said and expounding on it.

That being said, he is a top.player on a team that is slowly coming out of a rebuild, and I see nothing stating that Wings would trade Bertuzzi. As far as I know Wings could dock Bert for not being vax'd, and I have not heard anything to believe they have or will. Now they maybe doing that but it has not gotten out in the press so far.

What locker room are you talking about? If it is the vax issue have not heard anything, disappointment about the issue but if that is not what are you talking about, becuase there has been nothing reported?

His stance is a disruption. Obviously. And that's even if no one on the team is taking great exception to it, which is a huge if.

You make it sound as if Yzerman HAD to trade Bertuzzi to Toronto. He didn't. He was never available. So just because Dubas is interested in Bertuzzi means Yzerman has no say in it? 🤣 Weren't you the one back in September saying Bertuzzi was being shopped for 2 weeks straight on here? My apologies if it wasn't you.

He was available and was having a down year when the idea of trading him was available, but now he's playing really well so the Red Wings have no reason to move him
