Woof, that defence is bad. Two significant downgrades, much much slower and worse with the puck, and worse backup goaltending on top of it
Miller is good but not good enough to compensate for the losses

HAHA a 1st for a overpaid backup. Awful for Edmonton plus they dont have the cap room.

Yeah fair enough. My hopes are they are desperate enough to give up a first, but ya that trade is extremely unlikely.

Not really sure how to value Chiarot. He's on an expiring contract and would only be a rental for most teams. Cant expect him to get too much value

Personally I think that's fair value for him but 90% of habs fans on here are convinced he'll fetch a first round pick and a prospect.

Everybody get that TML 2nd round pick will be pretty high because they will be eliminated in the first round again, but not high enough to have the best offer for Chiarot.

Interested to know what you expect Canucks to get for him? I saw Seravalli say the return could be more than a first and a top prospect.

Not really. They are a lock for the playoffs and their picks will likely be around the 25 range, even if they lose in the first round.

On top of that, he's legit terrible. He's supposed to be a good defensive defenceman but gets destroyed night in and night out. He's awful.

He's not worth much of anything, he's legit terrible and has a higher cap hit. I wouldn't spend any assets to get him

There probably a dozen defenceman as good or better than Chiarot and are available this deadline. He's not going to get much of a return. And if he does, it's going to be a major loss.

I haven't watched much of the Habs this year's, but thought he was great against Toronto in the playoffs last year.

Sure. Still missed the point. Chiarot will get a better return than the 57th overall pick.

he wasnt though. He was really brutal against the leafs and they basically got shots and chances at will against him the entire series.

He wasn't. It's a myth, he gets credit for Price standing on his head. Matthews pummeled him the whole series. Hit the post 5 times and Chiarot gets credit. His expected goals against vs the Matthews line in that round was below 40% thats really bad.

Arizona and Edmonton aren't doing that. The Vancouver one just doesn't make sense for Vancouver or Toronto.

Rumoured ask is a 1st+ (a la Foglino or Savard last year). There is a lot of reported interest. But even he doesn't get that, we can all be pretty certain that Toronto would have to have the best offer, and I can't imagine a late 2nd would be the best offer considering what the interest is reported to be.

If you say so.

Just look at the results and weigh that against the fact that 16 teams are pretty much out of the playoff race already. The number of players available vs the number of teams needing defence is going to temper expectations.

That was the rumour like 2 months ago. Since then, Chiarot has been garbage and the playoff teams are almost settled. One or two teams in the west may have a chance but the east is set and there are as many if not more sellers vs buyers. That's going to change the market.

No clue what you are talking about.
STL, FLO, NYR, TOR, EDM, BOS all need a top 4 LHD.

Chiarot is not a top 4 dman and that is 6 teams vs 16 who are essentially out of the playoffs.
