Description
Trade deadline wishful thinking, I forgot to add it into the description of the giroux trade but the 3rd round pick becomes a second round pick if they make the conference finals or resign giroux, it becomes a first if both of those happen.

the salary cap exists for the avs, they cant do that and they wouldn't move Newhook for rentals

I really, really can't see Colorado moving Newhook. He's a neccesary piece going into next season, given the likelihood of Kadri ending up elsewhere.

Yeah, the AVS say no, Risto has proved to not be an asset, and Newhook has likely become part of core with his play season I dont think they´ll trade him

Just so you know can’t have conditions attached to players resigning anymore they scrapped that in the last cba negotiations. Believe the reasoning they provided was players felt it compromised market value.

You can keep Cates the 4th will do for Stecher but I'm not sure anyone will trade for him, He is a UFA, he has only played 6 games this season and the last was on 11-4-2021.

Detroit doesn’t need the 3rd pair d-man back in the deal and would accept a 4th rounder for Stecher as he has fallen on the depth charts behind an exceptional strong RD core (Seider 1st round pick), Hronek (2nd round pick), and Lindstrom (2nd round pick).

Stecher underwent wrist surgery in November with an expected return after the Olympic break.

"A bit of wishful thinking but if Giroux allows a trade to a decent amount of teams a bidding war could start and Colorado could see him and Risto as the last pieces needed to get over the hump and win a cup"

A bit?

And Risto as a Cup winning puzzle piece?

Oh man, I hope upon hope the Avs do this. Pretty please.

Wishful thinking? Try pipe dream. COL isn’t trading Newhook, doesn’t need Ristolainen, and has zero incentive to even do such a bad deal.

Wings easily accept. Flyers wouldn't do this though...Stechers a UFA and Philly is not going to make the playoffs. They will be selling, not buying UFA rentals.

Very wishful thinking on Newhook in a Giroux trade. Even with that retention the Avs would struggle to get under cap and Newhook's low cap is sooo valuable to them right now. Even a legit 2C of similar age to the core wouldn't probably move them.... as much as I'd be in on say Horvat. That's about the only way I could see him being moved though. No need to re-sign Kadri then and Newhook is suddenly surplus to requirements.

Zero chance of moving Newhook for anyone short of McDavid and that isn't happening.
