COL
  1. Texier, Alexandre
Additional Details:
Young speedy two-way forward who's good on the PK. Seems to have lost his way in CBJ given that he's been relegated to the bottom 6 on a line with Kuraly and Robinson despite CBJ's clear lack of top 6 C's. Maybe a fresh start would do him well, and Colorado would be a perfect fit.

The fact that you included a smiley face indicates that you know how silly that is grin

Also, what's going on with your avatar, what is that? tears of joy

IDK, he's having his best year in terms of points so I'm not sure CBJ would agree he's "lost his way". I do like his defense and PK ability but I don't know that he's worth a 1st. Maybe a good prospect (Kaut or Bowers, maybe Foudy) and a 2nd or 3rd?

Maybe 'lost his way' was a bit strong. There were hopes that he could be a good 2C or even low-end 1C at one point though, and that doesn't seem to be materializing. If Columbus don't see him as being part of their core moving forward perhaps they'd entertain moving him for a 1st, but I guess if they want to move him they'd prefer a hockey trade. Most realistically though they'll just hold onto him unless someone overpays. Whatever the case I doubt one of our B prospects and a 2nd/3rd gets it done.

Yeah, they'd probably prefer to keep him but maybe he'd benefit from a change of scenery. He would help the bottom 6 and PK so that checks some boxes and maybe shifting to Newhook's wing would help him out. It's also advantageous that he has another year left and would be RFA at the end of his current deal. I see what you mean about them not just taking a 2nd or 3rd and a B prospect. It's a tough case in terms of value, for sure.

Actually, his play has been at its best since he was moved to the Robinson-Kuraly line. That is part of the reason why his game has hit a new level this season.

Aaron Portzline wrote about it last month: https://theathletic.com/3045465/2022/01/01/how-alexandre-texier-has-awakened-his-game-and-become-one-of-the-blue-jackets-best-players/?source=user_shared_article

Honestly, a trade package would have to include a Newhook-level player, because the only way Tex gets moved right now is if someone overpays. CBJ still hope he can turn into a C, but still see his worst-case scenario as being a damn good winger.

Cbj laugh at that proposal. A fine, young, developing middle 6 guy for someone who would be lucky to be as good as him and a pick? Nah

Have to say I've always been somewhat underwhelmed when it comes to Texier. Personally I'd prefer the Avs to stay well away from him but I do have to admit I haven't seen him this season.
