Miller to NYR Trade Rumour

Created by: hockeybadger
Team: 2021-22 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 9, 2022
Published: Feb. 9, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Rumours come from Frank Seravalli's "Trade Deadline War Room – Metropolitan Division Objectives" piece at Daily Faceoff. Please note that it obviously won't be all these assets going one way. Just wanted to note all the piece that Frank said are potentially in play.

If the Rangers want to make this deal done and a 2022 1st, Schneider +++ didn't get it done (as per Satiar Shah at Sportsnet 650), I wonder if a Kakko and Schneider offer moves the needle.

Anyways, looks like we are in for a spicy next few weeks!

Seravalli is insane then. (Yes, I know he means that it wouldn't be everyone in that package)

Did you read the description or just jump to the comments after seeing the trade?

If you choose to ignore all facts and intensifying rumours then sure.

Rangers have 7M in cap space and have Strome and Lundqvist's dead money coming off the books next year, they can easily do it cap wise.

What are the facts? I'm only seeing rumors.

There is absolutely no reason the Rangers would trade their top prospects/young players for a top 6 winger who is signed for one more year. Would probably go down as one of the worst short sighted trades of all time.

I guarantee at the trade deadline Kakko and Schneider will still be Rangers. And Miller most likely will not be a Ranger (doesn't make sense for our cap situation anyway).

They need Strome, so they'll be resigning him. And we still have Shattenkirk money next year.

Literally read this. They have huge interest in him and these are the assets available.

Thanks fo proving my point. Rangers certainly don't want to carry over any bonus money into next season with next years near flat cap. Nice that 4.5m and Lundqvist 1.1m dead cap come off the books, but the Rangers have inked Zibs and Fox to 14m raises alone.

I read it, and I do trust Seravalli most of the time. But this is clearly intel mixed with speculation. "Pieces potentially in play" and a subsequent list of 6 players/picks is not a "fact" about what is available lol.

I have no doubt the Rangers are interested and intrigued with Miller. Doesn't mean it'll happen.

So it's really impossible to sign three bottom six forwards, bottom pairing defenseman, a back up goalie for $7M??? (Miller at 50%)

Even at his full cap that's still $4,375,000 for those players.

The only RFAs are Kravstov (who's probably gone), Hajek (probably not getting a big raise), Georgiev (most likely traded) and Sammy Blais (probably not a big raise if any either).

It doesn't take an economics degree to realize that you can make this easily work.

I am straight up just sharing what Frank said, idk how this is gassing up. This is what is being discussed at the NHL level, not just Vancouver

Believing information put out there for clicks, likely fed to him from Van (NYR have their own mouthpieces that are not Frank) = gassing themselves up.

Doesn't take an economics degree to know how to figure the NHL salary cap. But you refuse to recognize how bonuses are paid. Try making salary cap a for 22/23 Rangers. I noticed you think in your BS response to me, you suddenly changed Miller to 50% retention. Nice.
