Frank Seravalli says this could be Scheifs last season in Winnipeg

Created by: bunzy1034
Team: 2022-23 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 16, 2022
Published: Feb. 16, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
On the Daily Face-off podcast, Frank mentioned that there has been a lot of rumblings that past couple weeks that this could very well be 55's last season as a Jet. Also mentioned that this would most likely be something that would get done in the offseason. I feel like the Jets would definitely be asking for young cost controlled assets and draft picks.
Here are some teams that could make sense

Copp would still get traded at the deadline if the jets decided to sell in my opinion

If I was the Rangers Id go for the BFF reunion.

csick bunzy1034 Windjammer do you think there is any situation where the Jets would be willing to retain money on Scheifele's contract?

If Scheifele is traded if the offseason, does it make it less likely that Copp is traded at the deadline?

Copp and scheifele probably not going anywhere, the way the team and the franchise works. But yes both could be gone, I think copp had high hopes last year to sign longterm til they brought Dillon and Schmidt to town and ate up the cap, so close to ufa, I’m sure he tests and possibly takes a hometown discount in detroit or somebody comes with 25 or 30 over 5 or 6 years.

Lundkvist, Berard, Korczak, 1st? to get 1m retained.

You think Scheifele is worth less than JT Miller? Come on

Now THAT Seravalli utterance I believe. Of course, it's not a terribly skinny limb to step out onto.

At the current time? Absolutely. Miller is the better player right now and gets paid less for shorter term.

My god it blows me away that Sean Monahan gets paid more than him... If it comes to fruition the Flames would be crazy to not ask about him, obviously some other moves would need to be made especially with Toffoli in the mix now.
I guess to gauge better what is Winnipeg looking to do? If they're looking to rebuild then it's tough for Calgary cause they would need to be sending a Monahan/Dube/Lucic plus prospects and picks. If Winnipeg wants to compete then a money in money out deal works a little better.

              Monahan
              Dube
              Zary
              1st

              for

              Scheifele
              Stanley RFA rights

No idea if that's even close, I don't think it fits Winnipeg well though.
              Calgary though...
              Tkachuk - Lindholm - Gaudreau
              Mangiapane - Scheifele - Toffoli
              Pelletier - Backlund - Coleman
              Lucic - Ruzicka - Anyone

That's a cup winning top 9 right there. 5v5 and special teams would be absolutely electric

Toffoli and Scheifele on the same line would be hilarious though as both have such awkward skating styles.

If this is for 22/23 though Lucic is probably gone as well just to make the cap work. As I said above Pelletier should be available for someone like Scheifele, only prospect off the table is Wolf

Scheifele has a 10 team no trade list, So that leaves off Ottawa. And doubtful Rangers can afford his $6,125,000 cap hit and Calgary just traded for Toffoli and need to resign Gaudreau and Tkachuk so it's doubtful Calgary can afford himas well.

How would you like him in Detroit? I don't know if they are ready to make a move like that but he could be a good player to go for.

Very unlikely the Jets retain IMO, as the Jets have their own cap concerns. Unless the return is too stellar to pass up.

We've the pieces to get him and the cap space, I for one would love Scheifele. And it wouldn't surprise me if Yzerman doesn't at least inquire about him.

IMO, I would say that isn't stellar enough for retention. I would imagine the deal starts with Schneider (retention or not) and works from there, or Chevy waits to see what else is out there. There won't be a shortage of demand for a RH 1C with two years of term on a team friendly contract.

Just curious, either way, Id probably prefer Copp for this team as it make the team overall better.

You would have to take Monahan back from Calgary tho. IDK if I would do Pelletier as well. We are in a bit of cap hell and need elc's(not as bad as other teams but with Gaudreau Tkachuk Mangiapane Kylington and starting to be Ruzicka and having 30 mill to sign them) I doubt we can afford trading ELC's

Hate to break it to you but Gaudreau is probably going to leave regardless of how they do this season

              Man. Imagine the carnage.
Not that I completely disagree with the notion. It would just be a huge 180 for the franchise. And the return would likely have to be overwhelming. Especially if Calgary was the trade partner. I can't see them trading him to another Canadian Western Conference rival unless it was a crazy overpay.

As a jets fan I don’t want that deal with the Rangers Lundkvist is just a slight worse right handed Heinola and Kravstov doesn’t look good right projected 3rd liner id want a 1st, Schneider, another good spec and probably Chytil or another young roster player

I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Scheifele has put in a trade request.

Had a good game tonight but lately he looks pretty disinterested in playing for the Jets.

A Scheif trade to NYR would have to include Schnider
