That Boston trade is rough. And don’t think Pens will take on those cap dumps

I'd love the Pens trade without Poolman.

Pens don’t need a 5’9 wing that doenst hit in Hoglander. I think they could do better for Kappy and Pettersson.

I like Dickinson. Hate Poolman for the money and term(2.5M for 4 more years). Same with Hamoric at 3M for this year and next; I guess with 50% retention and at 1.5M is good. He’s injury prone though and won’t move from the west coast. I would rather Ruhwedel at 750K though.

Pens would be losing cap space with this trade..lol. Plus giving up Hallander. You can take Maniscalco.

Canucks easily decline the Boston trade. Also don’t think adding Pettersson makes sense as they have Hughes, OEL, and Rathbone for LD long term

I don't think most people realize how good Ruhwedel has been this year. He's been amazing.

How would you feel with a trade between Dickinson and Kapanen. Both players have fallen out with their respective teams and I sort of see this as a win win for both sides. Pens get a defensive forward with term and Canucks get a speedy Boudreau type player

Bs would do that in a heartbeat. I think that if the 2nd becomes a 1st it’s closer and it’s similar to the package that CAL gave up for Toffoli. But I think that VAN could get a better deal from someone else. I’s still do it

I think the Pens can do better. Kappy >Dickinson. Even when playing poorly. Let him get hot for a month and he’s a 20 goal scorer again. He’s still .75PPG last season and .5PPG this season. And plays well on the PK. Kappy floor and ceiling are higher.

Pettersson is a stay at home 2nd pairing D-man. Long stick, long reach, moves the puck well and contributes enough offensively. Just b/c fans on here like flashy D-man and clamber for D-men like Ghoustisbhere, A.D’Angello, V.Mete, J.Benn. No GM in the NHL does.

Pettersson is a highly responsible D-men, 25 years old, plays on a winning/play-off team, with play-off experience, and signed long term. Literally everything NHL GMs do want and look for. And with the way D-men are being paid, that contract is looking better every day.

I once did a straight-up trade for Petterson to Dallas Stars(I forget who for; nothing special). Their fans were up in arms cause of his contract.

A week later I did the same trade retaining 750K from M.Petterson and making his contract 3.25M per. Their fans loved it. Lol. And 750k is nothing for NHL teams in term of cap.

It’s the $4.00 vs $3.99 thing. People see that 4 only. With some numbers after it. And its really only 4M per. The 25k is nothing.

Poolman and Hamoric don’t equal Pettersson, IMO. Hamoric is injury prone and won’t move from the West coast either. Hamoric with 50% retention at 1.5M is good, I guess. But still your paying 1.5M for how many games..?? Maybe half a season at best. I wouldn’t want him.

Plus Pens are adding a prospect in Hallander. Plus Pens are losing cap space. Doesn’t make sense in any way to me.

People don’t understand Ruhwedel’s AHL #’s. For 2 franchises too. Buffallo’s and Pens AHL teams. Go look at those..lol.

When people say he’s tearing it up in the AHL; I’m like go look at Ruhwedels AHL numbers. He tears it up in the AHL and he’s a 3rd pairing RHD in NHL.

But I agree. He’s not only playing well but playing well and capable on a 1st place team. He’s gonna capitalize on it though and get paid. I bet 1.25M-1.5M per 2-3 years in the offseason. Great at 750K. Even at 1.25M per, it’s getting iffy though.

He'll deserver the raise. I'm sure he'll just be happy to get a one-way contract for a few years.

Ya, for sure. Good for him.

All you have to do to know he’s playing well is to look at what Matheson is doing. 7 goals, 14 assists and 21 points in 46 games. He couldn’t be that productive as a D-man without a solid/stay-at-home/defensively responsible partner.

honestly, if you look at his contracts, he made just as much in the AHL as he did in the NHL for most of his contracts.

I think he'd rather just have the money.
Peronsally I don't think he's worth more than 1M per. He's basically plays last man back, and they let Matheson go to town. Perfect partner for him though. No doubt, that's the kind of player he needs.
Very unselfish in his play, but for Chads case, I think a lot of it is realization on the limits of his abilities.
