Take out Othmann from the Rangers trade. You can add in Kravstov.

not even remotely close for the avs, there is absently no way miller gets you newhook.

Newhook is an automatic non starter, you couldn’t convince the Avs to do him for Miller 1 for 1 much less add a 1st rd pick.

NYR would be crazy to trade Othmann or Schneider unless they are getting a young, cost controlled C who projects as eventual 1C...and the teams that have the rights to this small handful of players would be crazier to trade them- short of an obscene overpay.

Unless NYR look to move Strome by TDL (really doubt this)...a move for JT Miller really doesn't make sense.

Caps pass. They can spend the same on a younger player that is more cost controlled going forward.

dont feel comfortable trading othmann before he plays at least a year in the nhl. kids producing like crazy in the chl and the rangers need that scoring bad. miller is gonna play a year and a half for the rangers maybe they look at the ecf one of those years. othmann can be an elite scorer in the nhl for years for the rangers. not worth it imo

as for schneider. he's incredibly responsible defensively and productive enough offensively to be a top 4 2 way dman. w trouba almost definitely not completing his contract in new york i think they would be crazy to move schneider for miller.

as for kravtsov and lundkvist. i understand y you'd be hesitant only getting those two guys. they're ceilings r not nearly as high as schneider and othmann. however they r both good enough to be steady nhl players and have the tools to become rlly good nhl players. however the chances of that r for sure lower than othmann and schneider.

it rlly depends how desperate van is to move him. if they can't get any other teams to part w their high end prospects the rangers will likely offer up kravtsov and lundkvist. however i think the rangers look elsewhere at the deadline if van was insisting on schneider or othmann.

              take out Iorio + 3rd

I would be almost ok with that as a fan. As a counter:

              Lappiere
              Sprong
              1st 2022
              2nd 2023

I do think Lappierre is an A level prospect, which is the only way I would want Miller traded.

The last rangers one could be okay. The rest aren’t

Are you one of the few Rangers fans who is open to the mere possiblity of trading Schneider without getting super irate and hostile at the mere notion of the idea? I never thought I would see the day.

Rant over, it's just been bugging me lately.

No and no in the case of the Avs trades. Not even remotely close.

dont feel comfortable trading othmann before he plays at least a year in the nhl. kids producing like crazy in the chl and the rangers need that scoring bad. miller is gonna play a year and a half for the rangers maybe they look at the ecf one of those years. othmann can be an elite scorer in the nhl for years for the rangers. not worth it imo

as for schneider. he's incredibly responsible defensively and productive enough offensively to be a top 4 2 way dman. w trouba almost definitely not completing his contract in new york i think they would be crazy to move schneider for miller.

as for kravtsov and lundkvist. i understand y you'd be hesitant only getting those two guys. they're ceilings r not nearly as high as schneider and othmann. however they r both good enough to be steady nhl players and have the tools to become rlly good nhl players. however the chances of that r for sure lower than othmann and schneider.

it rlly depends how desperate van is to move him. if they can't get any other teams to part w their high end prospects the rangers will likely offer up kravtsov and lundkvist. however i think the rangers look elsewhere at the deadline if van was insisting on schneider or othmann.

Appreciate the write up, thank you.

I'm not a GM so what the hell do I know, but speaking from a semi knowledgeable fans perspective, I wouldn't want them to trade Miller for a player who projects as "steady". If we didn't have Hughes, I would be alot more open to taking Lundqvist as the main piece in a Miller trade, but we can't have even more undersized offensive defenceman, hence the interest in Schneider.

Does Newhook really project that high? I feel like all of us fans have a natural disdain for moves that would mortgage a teams future. Even in a case like Washington or Pittsburgh, where the window is nearly shut with their core players, there seems to be a hesitancy to put all the chips on the table and go for it.

Miller isn't exactly old, and if we retain 50% that's about as cost controlled as you are gonna get. It's also not out of the realm of possiblity that he would be open to signing back with you guys.

Future 2C, he's pretty much already stapling himself to that role right now. Yes, most of us are naturally risk averse but Sakic has also shown that whilst not risk averse he doesn't tend to throw assets around. The Avs wouldn't trade Newhook one for one for Miller imo. Especially with how valuable those lower contracts will be going forward. Only guy I'd trade Newhook for on the Canucks would be Horvat and he'd have to have a reasonable extension in place first or have longer term than he does now.

Not sure why you would think I’m a rangers fan.

In a year and a half he’ll be 30 and looking for a huge UFA payday. On the trade market, he’s old, and hardly cost controlled.

Miller with salary retained makes the $ work out the remainder of this year and next….but I still see no path toward extending Strome- so he’ll be lost for nothing…then a year later when time to extend Miller, he’ll certainly be looking for anywhere from 6.5 to 8M per…which would force NYR to sell cheap on several players coming off ELCs. Sorry, I like JT as a player…but due to salary structure, have to pass

The second one is an absolute no-no for Boston.
