As a jets fan I worry about trading to a division rival but at the same time that's a fair return.

Avs wouldn’t trade Newhook 1 for 1. This is just a ridiculous over payment avs abd a Instant decline by the avs

One year of a low end bottom sixer like Compher wouldn't be wanted as part of the return and has minimal value and Kaut has little to no value, so the only pieces with value that Winnipeg is getting is a 1st a year from now and a good prospect/player in Newhook.

So, that isn't close to getting Scheifele.

I don't think Sakic has any intention of moving Newhook. Nor should he.

Fans overrate young players so much it's crazy. I doubt Newhook even becomes a 60 point centre lol

Take Eichel as comp

Tuch = Compher+Kaut
Krebs = Newhook
1st = 1st
2nd = 2nd

Probably not far off, from my view.
(Eichel is probably the better center, but was also discounted to to trade demands and injury).

I don't think Kaut+ Compher is close to Tuch but I also don't think Scheifele is anywhere near as good as Eichel either

That Eichel deal can never be used to compare with any trade. Those are 1 in a million circumstances. A healthy Eichel with little dispute fetches a huge package. The added uncertainty with a new surgery and him publicly requesting a trade ruined his value.

This deal that’s been proposed here is nearly perfect. Newhook is a top C prospect and the picks are great. I just can’t imagine Winnipeg trading scheifele in their division.

Ok chill, I agree this overall trade is a big overpay by the avalanche.
But saying that Newhook for Schiefele 1 for 1 is bad value is disrespectful to Schiefele

its not disrespectful, its just the reality of situation. Teams dont move players like Newhook on their ELCs, thats how you contend, getting that type of impact at 925k.
Also considering avs wouldnt bring Newhooks name into conversations when they were poking around Dubois when he was in Columbus. They wouldnt move him when he was an unsigned NCAA player, they arent moving him now when hes making a meaningful impact as a rookie on one of the bet teams in the league
