Canes pass. Not enough value to make Carolina even consider trading Pesce. Starting would be Dahlin +++.

It will take a massive overpay for Carolina to consider trading their best defensive RHD, who is also on a steal of a deal. If you want high quality, you better give up high quality as well.

There is no addition to dahlin. You're certifiably insane if you think that pesce holds more value. Also this package doesn't matter since the sabres aren't trading Levi

Car shouldn’t trade him because of where their team is now, that would be dumb. Car also getting the superior player overall +++ as asked is also dumb. Both things can be true at the same time.

Sabres need Levi & develop him. Need him to be the future starter to get the rebuild going North. Imo that’s the biggest need.

I would not say Dahlin is the better player overall. He's got the potential to be better, 100%. Pesce is one of the best DFD in the league. Dahlin is a great offensive player, His 40 points so far and 47-50 point pace are great. Pesce only gets around 30 a year, fair enough. But the 20 point difference between them is more than made up for regarding what Pesce does defensively. I think you're using some Sabres biased glasses here.

I don’t agree with the whole Pesce and Dahlin argument of these other canes fans. I will say, Canes aren’t selling pieces, we are trying to win. I would take quite an overpayment to consider a sell though.

Not really, more the other way around. Since wiping off Ralph Kruegers stank, Dahlin has made leaps and bounds in both the defensive end and his offense which he was drafted for is shining through. That he’s doing it in a worse and young team vs what Pesch does on a very sound and good defensive Canes team in general, coached by a good defensive minded coach very much helps. Pesch is a big part of that no doubt, but he’s not the only reason the Canes have the lowest GA this year.

For sure, I said as much above. Saying Dahlin +++ and the thought of trading a main piece while your a contender are both equally dumb. Pesch is a really good player. Would love to have him. Car sure does. Conversation should really end there.

Pesce is a huge reason the Canes are among the lowest goals against this year. He's playing both PK and Even Strength, on the best pk in the NHL and lowest GA in the NHL. Him and Slavin are major reasons it's the lowest.

Dahlin's defensive numbers are still down the toilet. He might be getting better, yeah. But it's also not good, not yet. That part of his game hasn't been fully developed yet. Both of these statements can be true.

We’ll just agree to disagree here, on some aspects. Pesch is great, Dahlin is turning into everything he was hyped to be, on both ends of the ice. I wouldn’t trade Dahlin for Pesch, and you’ve made your point that you would in the reverse. It’s all good. I have money on Car winning the cup, so make it happen.

For me the overpayment would have to swapping Laak and Ruot for a good prospect. Then we would have to sign Manson and then be able to take some of those pieces/ other pieces we have to get a major roster improvement at LW or D that is young enough and has the contract to make all of this shuffling worth it.

In the end, I feel like Manson should be the target for y’all and y’all keep the assets. Just my thought though.

The +++ was a typo. It was meant to be +, in the span of a 2 minute break from work and on 2 hours of sleep. Laugh at me all you want, I really don’t care.

As it stands, Pesce is the better overall player, with the difference being the defensive game. And in terms of value for the trade, Carolina wouldn’t take that. Levi is good, yes, but Carolina already had too many goalies taking up spots in Chicago. There’s LaFontaine, Kotchetkov, Makiniemi, Lyon, and at least 1 more goalie in Chicago. So acquiring Levi would just take away time from another goalie in an already crowded crease. Carolina would want a high end dman back, plus other piece(s). Add in RHD being a hot commodity around the league, and the Canes can sell extremely high. So it would have to start with one of Dahlin or Power, anything less and the Canes just won’t take. Add another high end asset, and the Canes at least consider.

    We aren’t dumping Olofsson for a 3rd
If we were willing to do that, he’d be gone already
No reason for us to “sell low”
