Dubois at $7.5 million AAV for 8 years... Jets would sign him for that.

Sean Reynolds (Sportsnet) spoke with Montreal media when the Habs were in Winnipeg and Reynolds related the view from the Montreal press said Dubois would be crazy if he didn't sign in Winnipeg. Dubois gets to be a 1C with a 40+ goal scorer on his wing (Connor is on pace for 51 goals) and potentially Ehlers/Perfetti on his other wing in the future. Also, his folks live in Winnipeg so that adds a bit to the conversation too.

Hahaha I hate him too but for simplicity sake I needed a LW here - if he can regain 2018/19 form - I'll be happy!

That doesn’t get you Dubois and that’s the worst d core in the eastern conference you won’t be contending with those guys on d

Yeah, I cheaped out on salary - I was over the cap. He'll get 8+ on his next deal.

I didn't know his folks were in WPG - thanks for the info!

This d corps has helped outscore the Leafs 9-4 in their last 2 games against each other - it isn't a great d corps but that's the last thing a leaf fan should critique

I agree, he will get 8+ on a long term deal. Dubois' dad is an assistant coach (defense) for the Manitoba Moose.

All the Jets need to do is hire Heinz Ehlers (coach of Denmark national team) and they will have a trio of Dads with sons in the organization. lol.

Leafs just beat Florida and Boston back to back while Montreal is on a 2 game losing streak and still in the basement of the nhl. A top pair of Edmunson and Savard would be another repeat of this year. Enjoy the basement and ur 47 points

The Jets aren't trading Dubois, but if they were it wouldn't be for a lowball offer like this. Montreal doesn't have the assets required to get into a conversation for Dubois if he was moved.

I like the idea of getting Drouin, especially with retained. If you take Kassian in and we get Drouin with retained, we can do a first or a 5th + (A- prospect).

I thought about taking back kassian, initially i had drouin at 50% retention but I couldn't afford it. Cap is tight. Drouin with McDavid would be so fun

Drouin is one of the players that I really want the Oilers to trade for. He's so talented. He just can't handle pressure. But I don't think the pressure would be elevated in Edmonton. And as you said, McDavid and Drouin would be amazing.

fair to not like that offere its for sure on the low end but how does mtl not have the assests to get into the conversation? what exactly are you expecting in a package for dubois to include? I'm sure theres plenty of packages they could put together to get Dubois who isnt even a legt number 1 center, not saying the habs would be willing to give up the package, thats another issue altogether.

Montreal doesn't have a young, comparable 1C or a young, top pairing RD. Those are the only things that start a conversation for Dubois if he was ever moved. Hence, Montreal doesn't have the assets required. As the Jets aren't going to trade him for a bunch of unneeded meh stuff as proposed here.

if mtl had a young 1c (which they very well might at the draft) why would that be part of a package for a 2c? seems weird to trade a prospect projected to be better than the player you are receiving during a retool.
But fair if that was the price tag for dubois then no one is makling an offer.

Who is the 2C you are talking about? And why would the Jets trade Dubois for anything less than an exact replacement or defensive equivalent when they don't have to?

i'm in full agreement jets dont need to move him, and can ask for the world for him. But Dubois is not a number 1 center, The reason why the jets forward depth is as crazy as it is, is because you have after Scheifele who is offensively well ahead of dubois.

Dubois is either a below average number 1 , or an elite Number 2 center.

Ah okay I see. Well going by points Dubois is 29th so he definitely is a 1C by production. Irregardless it doesn't really matter how you or other teams see him. For Winnipeg he is a 1B center and a replacement for Scheifele if he can't be re-signed in two years and his value is as such to the Jets.

So, the Jets aren't trading him (if they ever consider it) for a collection of lesser parts. He'd only move if an equivalent center or RD is coming back, as those are the positions Winnipeg needs to fill if Dubois moves out.

Ya which is 100% fair not t to move him if they dont need too. But in the scenerio that they were going to, if the habs came in with an offer of Barron a late First and Poehling(may not be realistic given where the habs are in their rebuild curreitnly) I assume the jets would take that call and see where it led.
