Description
Rumors are that Scheifele could be on his way out this summer and it would absolutely check out as far as I'm concerned. He just looks like he doesn't care out there right now -- he needs a new start with a different team and the Jets need a new start with Dubois as the #1C.

This end result team is a playoff contender though, in my opinion. A really good top nine and an elite 4th line to match a solid defense core with some new pairings.

Additional Details:
My fellow Jets fans are going to hate this lol but hear me out. He's barely touched the ice over the past two years and it's not just a coincidence; I think he's fallen out of favor with coaching staff and could be in need of a new scenery. Dude puts up great AHL numbers and was great as an 18 year old in 9 NHL games but ever since his NHL results have been a small sample size and unimpressive at best when he's in the lineup. All at the same time, we've got Samberg right there too, who, in my opinion, has the perfect game to play with Pionk. I totally get why anyone wouldn't want to trade Heinola, but I can just kind of feel it right now. His potential is too great for how he's been handled so far with the Jets and something has to give.

These are all really bad for the Jets.

There is no reason to give away Stanley for nothing.

How the Jets add a 2nd to Scheifele and only get a disappointing winger and a 1st in return. That's not in the same universe as Scheifele's actual value.

DeBrusk as a player wouldn't be bad, but he has a bad contract extension and in no world is he worth any team's top defensive prospect.

Out of the main big centers in the league, scheifele is one of the worst defensively analytically, people may over value him a bit

-Not enough for Scheifele, and not adding for it. Only way Scheifeke goes to NYR is if Schneider is in the return
-No to Debrusk… Jets need top 6 RHW and top 4 RHD, and Bruins wouldn’t do it
-Stanley trade is unlikely from a Boston perspective
-Too much on Statsny deal… try 1yr at 2.5m max
-Dubois isn’t signing for that… try 8yrs at 7.5-8m per
-WTF are we signing PK Subban for.
-Sanford was a stupid trade and a waste of a pick. I’d tell him not to unpack as he won’t be in WPG past the last day of the season.

Any team with Wheeler in the top 6 and this defensive lineup is not a contender… not even close.

Trade talks END with Schneider, he is not available period. Trade your boy elsewhere.

He's also 20th in the league for centers in scoring in a terrible year for him and is still a point per game player. Almost all top offensive players are bad defensively.

It also doesn't change the fact that PPG centers over the past 6 seasons on a steal of a contract are extremely rare. No one is over valuing him. He's worth a ton.

Not trying to be a d!ck but there's no chance this team here would be a contender, at best it'd be scraping in a wildcard spot but even thats unlikely.

Scheifele is likely getting traded but that isn't a good return, no way should the Jets be adding a 2nd round pick.. lol

I'm all for trading Heinola and especially before his value drops but I wouldn’t deal him for Debrusk, doubt Boston would have interest in that anyway with all the LHD they have.

You're giving away Stanley and again Boston is flush with LHD so they decline.

Perfetti has yet to play a shift at center in the NHL, we don't know if he'll be able to center a line at the NHL level, more and more I'm thinking they should've drafted Lundell.

Thats too much for Stastny and not enough for Appleton, the Jets will never let go of 3C Lowry so there's that as well.

I get Wheeler is at a point per game pace but he's really not a top line player anymore.

That defense needs some work if this team wants to actually comtend, need an upgrade on DeMelo, the guy trys but he's in no way a top pair dman, theres no need to sign Subban, he isn't needed.

So, hate to say it but this team is miles away from being a contender and I'm not sure the management team even realizes it.

Boston also has to many LD as well. Serves no purpose. Both trades. They will be trading at least one away as it is. Don’t need more.

As soon as you trade scheifele, it should open the door on trading Dillon/demelo/Schmidt, and also why are you bringing stasny back, and is there any market on wheeler? And if your at this point what’s the nucleus to build back with? Your most valuable guys are all relatively in the same age group so it could be a decent retool opportunity, but it is going to hurt short term. Personally I bite the bullet and try to trade or sign back into 24 or younger age group, and try to lift cup in three years over three years of bubble playoffs and still be in the same position or worse. But lots of tough questions this summer. Side note stanley needs to learn when to get mad, and not make Dillon take all the fights. What a awfully reffed hockey game.

Honestly I’m okay with us keeping Copp long term till Korczak is ready instead of making an external trade for another center. I’d be fine with Mika, Copp, Goodrow and Rooney as the center core. We have a decent amount of talent on the wings to make it work. Plus I’m really high on Korczak and think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people.

Subban is far from his Norris trophy win, but there is no way he signs for that low unless a perennial contender like Colorado or Tampa offers him that.

And if he goes to a good coach who doesn't take ****, he can actually start playing some defense. The issue with him is Maurice let him get away with his lazy defensive play. I bet coaches like Sutter, Trotz, or Brind'Amour would get him going.

Heinola is a great skater, who makes an excellent first pass, with great composure.

He hasn't gotten his chance because Maurice hated playing young guys. Now Maurice is gone, a good coach will have him in the lineup.

The team needs cap flexibility, and to do that they should bring up Samberg, and Heinola, and let go guys like Stanley, Schmidt, and Stanley to make the room.
