Petry is definitely an upgrade over EJ but COL wouldn’t want his contract term.

You say "get Valimaki off the books" like he's a negative asset lol

Also Arizona can easily hit the floor without Weber

Montreal is not adding a former 1st round pick who is projecting to be a top 4 RHD even though the pick was controversial. The Habs have invested a ton of money in not only his development but also the aftermath cleanup and counseling for both the victim and Mailloux himself. I highly doubt he is moved at all.

Why would MTL give any assets to trade Weber's contract? Just put him on LTIR.

No because we needs his contract off the books because we are not paying the recapture fee if Weber retires. ARZ or NSH could do that instead of us

Petry’s term is bad yes, but you can just trade him away for a 7th if it is a big concern. Petry for 2 years isnt the big concern, but if Petry absolutely sucks than idk tbh what would happen after that

Two deals I wouldn't do are the ARI & COL deals. Petry half-retained is worth more than EJ by a fair margin. MTL shouldn't have to pay to dump Weber's contract if there are team they can work with. Remove Mailloux and the 2nd coming back - Weber for future considerations is the most the Habs should do.

MTL barely pays any fee if he retires (Something around 500k for 2-3 years i think).

Nashville gets hit hard with the shovel (Something like 25M spread over the years remaining when he retires)

No Nashville gets shafted if he retires not MTL. The issue is that while on LTIR he counts against the cap in the offseason making maneuvers for an up against the cap team like the the Habs more difficult.

Avs Johnson isn't waiving for Montreal. No motivation for Arizona to do that trade unless they like Mailleux. If Weber stays on LTIR, it doesn't hurt Montreal at all.
New Jersey saves cap and signs a player they want, maybe. Gaudreau
Flames just might like to keep Monahan for a year, some of which will be LTIR likely, instead of taking on the middling Dvorak

Everyone who tries throwing overpriced scorers or "scorers" at the Devils as if scoring is their weakness are not watching or know anything about the Devils...
