Not that Garland isn’t worth it but I’d be holding onto that 1st with every fibre of my being. It may very well be a lotto pick as knowing the Jets org, not much may change this off-season and next year might be just as much a tire fire as this year was.
I am not against moving picks/prospects, but if we are moving those assets, we better get our coveted RHD first.

Garland would be nice, but definitely isn't worth giving up the Jets 1st for.

Stars decline thanks. Not a fan of Myers and his contract. Would need you to pay us for taking that deal.

Yeah to be fair, so would I. I get the feeling Dallas is the sort of team that would make this trade in real life, where Myers bizarrely holds some actual value.

I have to disagree. DAL usually doesn't make stupid trades.

They like veterans yes to a troubling extent, but they don't often overpay for crap they don't need.

If anything they'd sign him as UFA for too much money.

The risk of it being top five is a big scary red flag (also what makes it enticing for the Canucks). This might be the year Jets can cash out on Wheeler’s productive season and maybe take a run at Klingberg in FA?

Who am I kidding, the Jets never make big free agency signings. Your plan is better.

What’s the plan post-Klingberg? Any ideas?

That's the million dollar question (actually MORE than that lol), but if anything this year has proven that our defense is not a huge problem, secondary scoring is. I think getting a player like Burakovsky or any kind of scoring 2nd line winger is an absolute necessity. Getting a 2nd pair RHD is a secondary concern.

Ideally I'd want Shattenkirk. He'd be a good 2nd pair D for us at reasonable cost, able to help our PP with Klingberg gone.

Given LA's RHD depth maybe we could make an offer for Walker or Roy. Spence is an option too - I'd like a swap between Spence and Dellandrea, as it can help both teams with DAL getting a young puckmoving RHD and LA gets a right shot two-way forward they're lacking.

Obviously the most ideal scenario is the one where Klingberg re-signs with us with smaller money because he's still really good, but that seems very unlikely.

Really seems like Klingberg wants the home run contract and Nill seems unlikely to give it to him. Shattenkirk is sneaky good but just at that age where D start falling out of the top 4.

Honestly, I just looked at Dallas and thought “they might want a RHD like Myers”. It sounded like there are suddenly suitors for Myers but I have no idea who that might be.

Garland would be a pretty nice addition. I'm not fond of losing the 1st unless a Scheifele trade or something happens where we have another first

Only way I’d take Myers is if Faksa is headed the other way and Vancouver retains some money on Myers. Just because Myers has been decent this year, that doesn’t mean he’s worth that bloated contract he got

Maybe they wouldn’t? I don’t know.

Would they want Pearson? I’m not sure, but with Strome, Copp, Vatrano and Motte set for FA, they might need a middle six forward. If you look at those guys Drury seems to be adding, Pearson seems in that mold.

As for value, mid to late first for early-ish second is not a big acquisition cost. Rangers are a playoff team.

Yeah they can just sign someone in the off-season to bring what Pearson would for cheaper. They already have Chytil and goodrow for the third line, and it’s tbd what happens with kravtsov. I’d rather resign Vatrano than trade away our first for a scrub player, even with getting a 2nd in return. Pearson doesn’t make up the roughly 20 spot drop for NYR
