Unlikely Winnipeg does that, depending on where that pick lands.

Right now it is 6. I'm assuming this is probably post-lottery and it's not Wright.

Wouldn't make the sharks trade. Probably not enough for Hellebuyck.

Would say 2023 pick has to have no protection for that trade.

dig into the underlyings a bit 😉

The Devils have something like the 12th best skater group (despite being youngest team in the league) and the 32nd goalies.

JFresh Roster Builder has this team at 107 points

Hey, I like the direction the Devils are going. I just think for two years of Hellbucyck and really one year of Meier (he has a large QO) it's too much for the Devils to give up.

Well, yeah. That's why I said this trade was after July 1 when they can agree to a < 10M extension lol

Though if we're being real, this isn't what I'd do. I'm just throwing stuff out there and seeing what happens.

I'm basically completely backwards. I'd do the SJS trade and not the WPG one.

sharks counter Meier & Reimer for Holtz, Walsh, 23 1st top 5 protected & 22 2nd and Bernier (but only if his injury is career ending and then we just put him LTIR.

I think Reimer is worth less and not more than Käkkönen. So personally, I think that's way too much for Meier + Reimer over Meier + Käkkönen

Reimer has been a huge upgrade in San Jose and has a solid resume, he would be ideal to add as a 1-B/ starter to pair with a younger guy like Blackwood as a mentor. he makes more sense and sharks didn’t deal Middleton for Kahkonen just to move him in the offseason. Reimer and Hill are both available over kahkonen.

I wouldn't move a 1st nor Holtz for Meier.

Meier is having career year, but ppg up 75%, WAR up 150%.
Not sure that is sustainable.
Maybe, but not gambling on it.

And sweet Jeebus...Sharks fans are saying no to this.

Reimer has been good this year for the sharks I agree. From the devils' perspective though Käkkönen has more value because of age and his underlyings are decent. I don't think they can afford to risk acquiring an older goaltender for the 3rd year in a row which makes more sense to trade for Käkkönen or Hill over Reimer. Sharks may not be willing to move käkkönen because they just acquired him but the same can be said for basically all 3 goalies in Reimer Käkkönen and Hill but with Strauss Mann also signing with San Jose. I assume at least one of those 3 gets moved. From a devils' perspective Reimer is the goalie I'd be the least interested in acquiring and I definitely wouldn't do it at a significant cost if I did.

If that pick is #3-5 jets entertain that. Hellebuyck is a Vezina level goaltender, but hasn’t played the best this year. A NJ squad with him in net and an upgrade at FW would be terrifying.

Trading for Meier is a huge gamble for sure going off his long track record in the NHL it's hard to justify that he'll keep up the pace he's on this year in the future. You have to hope at the minimum he keeps up a level of play in between this year and his career and that he's willing to take significantly less than his QO. If the sharks are serious about rebuilding you can't pass up this haul for a player likely having a career year and that you probably won't be able to afford a year from now or that you probably shouldn't keep if you are trying to tank for high draft picks.

Meier is a 1-year rental and should be valued that way.
Late 1st, early 2nd, roster player and solid prospect.

I can’t see the sharks trading the best player in the deal and the best goaltender in the deal. Kahkonen has been great id rather keep him. Have no interest in Blackwood, guys is way overhyped and the stats show it.

Reimer is good but if you're getting Holtz, less protection on the first, Walsh, and a 2nd, a pending 35 year old UFA is not enough to balance that out. It would have to be the younger one with term.
