Hawks likely agree, I think Toews isn't bought into the rebuild

Already have plenty of cap room, so while I guess it's helpful it isn't a driver

Still think toews half retained could get more than this but if this was the best offer I'd take it.

Portillo for Ves isn’t even fair for buf lol. Jets should be adding a 4th to that.

Don’t mind the other deals. Not sure that Philly says yeah though. I would be jumping at the bit if they were able to trade into the top 7.

Idk, Vesalainen is likely a bust but trading him for a guy who might never sign doesn't seem like a smart move nevermind adding a pick, would really like to see Vesalainen with some better coaching and a stable role on a line thats purpose isn't just wasting time, the Jets standard operating procedure for its 3rd and 4th lines needs a massive rethink and overhaul.

The Schmidt trade is good or at least seems to be the consensus on here. I would want to see Portillo sign first and then trade for him. I agree with Whalers and would like to see what Ves can do under a new coach. He is a big body player with skill. Personally I would stay away from Toews. I just don't know if he is the same guy he was before his "injury". He kind of looked "lazy" last year. The rest don't really make any sense to me, but it doesn't matter what I think on this sight. I won't be rude though and roast you on them.

Slowest Center group In the league, new coach has to come in and get a buyin from scheifele and set a direction. Dubois is going to look terrible without a scheifele, a more physical Logan couture and his contract is going look just as bad. Dubois is a 1b, or best 2c in the league, but not the bona fid number 1 Center the jets need. Toews add more likely to go bad than go good. But same as any only an opinion.

Toews is there to mentor, teach, and hold the roster slot for Perfetti

I was operating under the assumption that Portillo is signing. But yeah if he’s not then it doesn’t make sense what i proposed. I also would like to see vesalainen with a new coaching staff, I’d hope to see him get an opportunity but I’m just not sure that he’s going to get a real opportunity to succeed in Winnipeg.

Yeah hopefully with new coaches they revamp the idea of the 3rd and 4th line.

Detroit accepts, Schmidt should be decent for the next 3 years. And he should be a wonderful mentor for Moritz Seider.

Toews was probably just trying to get back up to speed as he didn't play the year before plus he knew that team was going nowhere so that probably effected his play.

Idk if he's still a 2C but he'd be a great 3C if they were really going to try and go for it next season though that isn't likely with such an inactive GM and ownership that's content with status quo.

I'm very intrigued to see what Philly does. Do they think they're just a good coach away from being a playoff team? They've put a lot of money into their roster (Ellis, Risto, Couts) and do they want to rebuild? Trading for Schief would certainly open their window. Is it worth it to them to trade away a 5th overall pick?
They are a fascinating team to me.
I also would love that Severson trade, assuming he is signed to an extension. He is really underrated.
