I don't know how that trade really works. Flames aren't going to allow Jersey to negotiate what Tkachuk. And Jersey doesn't trade for him, if unless there is a signed contract.

But Pasta isn't worth that much, especially as a pending UFA.
Rather just try and sign him in free agency next summer.

If Luke were born a few days later, Luke would be 1st overall in this draft.
So that would make sense that they'd want him more.

It is likely meaningless in the long-run, but they are close family.

If you have a shot.....just wait till next summer. Calgary might only be able to sign one of Gaudreau or Tkachuk long term. If interested maybe the Devils sign UFA Gaudreau and keep the second pick

Either way, I think it's incredibly unlikely that Tkachuk is traded for the 2nd overall pick. The Flames would need immediate help and nobody at 2nd overall looks to step in right away. I know Hughes wouldn't step in right away either.

They aren't getting a player as good as Tkachuk if they trade him to make space. They aren't getting a Forsberg or Kadri.

They do this, they can have the honour of keeping Zadorov and Gudbranson around.
