So has Stevie added mind control to his skill set as a gm? Or just got all the other GMs high on his personal strain of OG kush?

That's too much for the second pick. Take out Hronek and its fair but nobody trades a top 5 pick. GMs overvalue them; much like people on this site.

I agree that's too much to give up and NJ doesn't even consider it. The other 2 trades are very very bad Vancouver and Minnesota. There is no possible way Nemec is there at #8 I honestly think he has a shot at being the best player in the draft class.

1st Zadina doe snot get Fiala or even close.

NJ is not trading the 2OA pick, that player is cost controlled for years and is 7 years younger than those two players.

Canucks have cap problems but, but they gave up alot for OEL and they are not giving him away, but his cap hit will become a problem as the years move on and they will need to shed cap and it will be difficult to move. And no Bertuzzi and a pick for OEL is an easy no from Wings.

The cost/team control thing is what people miss imo. The Devils having all of their best players except 1 (Dougie) under the age of 24 is even more reason to keep it and make the pick.

Cost control is great for a stable GM. But for GMs that haven’t made the playoffs in 4+ years, they start to feel the pressure for immediate success. If someone does trade a top 5 pick this year, I think that is the reason why.

Zadina straight up doesnt get Fiala.. Fiala's value is peak right now for him and Zadina is pretty close to the floor. one coming off a great season, the other still a boom/bust situation. Too risky for Minnesota who would get a better offer elsewhere.

New Jersey would likely accept that IF Bertuzzi agreed to sign long term. That being said, i think that is an overpayment for the #2 pick who isnt a sure shot guarantee.

I dont know that Ekman-Larsson fits our needs being 30 and a $7M cap hit. I dont think that gets you him either. 5 years at $7M is not something Yzerman is signing up for. Not sure if you have been paying attention, but not 1 guy is extended past 3 years right now. He is building this team how he wants it and i dont think a 30 year old with term is it.

laugh OEL value is in the crapper, You'd be paying us to take him off your hands not the other way around.
