Despite Wright being a great player, the Jets arent in a position to fully tear it down. Trading Dubois would signal a major rebuild, and to that point. If the Jets traded Dubois for the1st OA pick. They wouldnt add the 14th pick imo at best they would add NYR's pick 29-32.

Montreal adds a lot and Winnipeg doesn't consider this deal as is.

Habs would be downright stupid to trade Wright for a guy who will never be a legit 1C on a top contender, and as a Leafs fan I’m all here for them to do it

Jets are better off trading Scheifele for a good return and keeping PLD. Also don't think Montreal does this as Wright will be to important to them moving forward, he also provides a reason to suck again for Bedard while PLD gives the fan base hope for a wild card run

Habs decline, dubois has less potential then wright and they wont burn wrights prime years during the rebuild whereas they would burn dubois'

Montreal just takes Wright (or Cooley or Slafkovsky). Dubois is a good player, but he's not a great player and will likely be paid like one. Better for Montreal to bet one the 1st OA pick and set themselves up for a very high pick in 2023.

This is an over pay by the jets using multiple draft pick value models but dubois and the jets late pick 30th overall is actually very close in value. Either team is doing this because the NHL teams over values their own assets. To balance out the trade as it is you would have to add a late 1st to Montreal's side or something equal to that so a good prospect. Again this trade isn't happening.

1st overall 17.7 GSVA over first 7yrs or 2.53 GSVA a yr.
Dubois had a GSVA of 2.2 last yr
14th over pick is worth 5.1GSVA first 7 yrs or .73GSVA a yr

so to balance it Jets would need an asset worth .4 GSVA a yr. The 31st overall pick is that value or an equal valued asset like a good prospect.
