Well made tbh would be a scary offense no doubt. Just nitpicking here, Montreal doesn’t trade a 2nd for a Barrie.

Don't think its enough but its not terrible. Those 1st's will be very late and Kassian is a cap dump. Would prefer HOlloway or Broberg over Bourgault

Holloway or Broberg would be much harder for the Oilers to part with because they need those cheap cap hits to fill roster spots now. Blackhawks might be happier getting Bourgault since he plays C, admittedly i dont know much about their prospect pool tho.

I agree , I think that change is needed for the deal to be considered

Think Ottawa is content with Austin Watson. Marginally positive defensive results, can give you maybe 10 or so goals from the 4th line and he brings that hard nosed physical game they clearly value. Basically an ideal option as a mentor for Parker Kelly and Mark Kastelic, two young forwards Ottawa hopes will be the ones bringing that element to the 4th line for a long time to come.

For the record, Foegele is clearly a better player, I just don't imagine Ottawa will want to be without that player.

Re-signing Kane to a deal like that would value it very difficult to re-sign DeBrincat the following summer. I’d drop Kane and sign a guy like Marchment for the 3rd line. Then you either just keep the remaining cap space or add someone of defense or goaltending to a 1-year deal— may need to use that money to increase the Husso contract too.

Skinner, Bouch & Debrincat would be the only major assests that would need to be resigned in 23/24 & $17mill cap space available.... They will prob bridge Bouch like they did Nurse so say $3.5x2, That would leave $14mill to get Skinner & the cat done.... Give Debrincat $9-$10millx7 and Skinner would only need $800k-$1milx2. Its doable.

But i do like the Marchment idea if Kane wont agree to a smidge less than $7mill.

Those are the lines I was thinking— but $7m of that cap space is just from the LTIR guys that don’t count towards the cap when the season starts. So I don’t think it’s as much as you think. Closer to $10m and DeBrincat will take up most of that. Hopefully I’m looking at those numbers correctly…

For several reasons, Ottawa would much rather have Watson

Some of these reasons are :

- 1 year left vs 2 years left
- 1.5 AAV vs 2.75
- Glue guy in the locker room vs unknown
- goes to war for his teammates vs unknown

For these reasons, they certainly wouldn't ADD a 4th round pick to make that deal. Even if the pick was going the other way, they would still decline

Only need Dylan Strome and you basically have the 2015 Erie Otters
