Oooooof.... 1 or the other on Greig and Pinto. Can't have both. That does solve... a lot of issues for Ottawa.

Ah man... I'd say yes.

It would hurt to lose Pinto but from the Sens perspective I can't justify saying "No" to that trade for Debrincat.

The fact that it would hurt to see them go shows that the trade would actually be possible

I tried to put something together that fits the needs of both teams. There is a lot of value in my opinion with Ottawa dumping Zaits and gaining Murphy to play in the top 4 on the right so that should be a heck of an upgrade and kill two birds with one stone.

Only thing i would say is maybe a Top 5 protected on the 2023 1st. Other than that, this hurts but it's what Ottawa needs up front and what they need on the back end. Chabot-Murphy would be a solid top pair with Sanderson-Zub as your 2nd pair. If i'm Dorion, this is the swing you need to take.

Yeah i really like the trade you made. Like i said it hurts on the Ottawa side but still makes a lot of sense. Sens will have to find a new 3rd line center but thats an easier problem to solve than finding a star player lol

I’d rather trade Formenton and keep Greig imo. Greig will be cheaper next few years and can be our 3C.

Maybe, I just don't know how much value is behind the RFA rights for Strome honestly. I peg it around a 3rd round pick, but could be wrong of course.

I think since you are taking on Mrazek’s contract you probably could get a mid round pick on top of this

We still have a few decent center prospects in the system (Ostapchuk, Lodin), but I agree.

Hard because Strome isn't cost certain, if he's wanting upwards of 4 million the Leafs will have a hard time making that happen. Not sure he's an ideal fit for their second line either. He's a good player but not sure he's a top target.

I mean they could probably work out extension talks before hand right

I think they would have to, but again, he's probably not a fit. He's similar to Kerfoot who doesn't fit in Toronto's top-6, not enough of an upgrade.

Credit to you for making trades that actually help both teams. I think you would be hard pressed to find either OTT or TOR fans rejecting these.

Have a feeling we will see some sort of variations of these in the following days.

Nice post

But he’s shown tremendous upside like when he first came to Chicago. Maybe the Leafs take a chance on a guy like that to be an impact top sixer

That's fair, but depends if the Leafs want the rights to Strome. If they do, this makes sense to me for both sides. If they don't, then you are right.

Easier to skip over a back and forth about Eichel, because I'm fairly confident that we could go on about that for days tears of joy

Yeah, this should be something that Ottawa is interested in. I'd probably bang on the "Top 1" or "Top 2" protected drum, but adding Murph and DubCat would be a heck of a move for Ottawa.

The one thing I'd worry about here is the fact that the Melnyk's, even without Eugene, still own this team, so the idea of a massive Cat extension seems like a bit of a stretch. Big money for both him and Stutzle in the same offseason would be hilarious though.

Take out Zaitsev and that is probably a slight overpay for Cat alone, depending on where that 2023 1st ends up. But with Murphy involved and the Zaitsev dump, I really think there needs to be one of JBD, Lassi, or Brannstrom involved. Also, I would probably prefer Formenton over Greig, if we are looking for someone to eventually become a top 6 winger. Yes, he will probably cost more in the short term but Davidson has said more than once that he wants to play a skill game with high end skaters. Greig can play at a high tempo and be quick in small bursts, but his skating overall is below average for NHL players. It's looking like he projects as a pesky checking bottom six forward, maybe 2nd line if he can work out some of the kinks with his skating.

Thanks for the feedback, valid points. Setup a AGM with that idea, would be interested to see the responses. I think Greig is highly valued by Ottawa fans over Formenton.
