Kings decline, Rangers match anything that's not a 1st IMO.

It'd be very tough for the Rangers to match that contract.

Murphy is too much of a risk with his recent injury problems to pay a first rounder for. Not sure Buffalo would be interested.

NYR cannot match that, and stay competetive next season or keep Miller/Laf following year. Go for it.

So rangers match, hawks or someone else comes after Laf next year and they can't match that, and they can't bring back another one of Strome/Copp/Motte/Vatrono

A few Buffalo fans on here might go for that trade,
but the actual Sabres wouldn’t

It’s gonna be very hard to get the Sabres to give up one of their 1sts this year
We’re still rebuilding, and we know it

Well I’ve always assumed none of those four you listed were coming back anyway. Unless they extend let’s say Copp, New York matches anything below the 1st + 3rd threshold.

In addition, Kakko has also stated he wants to stay with the Rangers.

I don't think the Rangers match. It will mess up their cap. But I don't know if the player would sign, just because I don't think he would want to play in Chicago.

I would not do the Murphy deal if I'm Buffalo. They could probably find a serviceable dman for less. Won't be as good, but also will not have the injury issues and they keep a 1st that's unprotected. I don't think Florida falls out next year, but I could see them not being as good with a coach I don't think is good and players maybe not having as great of a year.

I don't understand LA people honestly. If they trade comes with an extension you do it 100 times over.

Rangers match and can flip him before then. Play him on the top-6 to bolster his goal scoring and they can easily get a 2nd + a prospect. If I'm a full rebuilding team, I'm all about helping the rangers (for future trades) and making my players think twice about signing offer sheets.

We don't have an issue taking him, we just want to be appropriately compensated for it. TBH, I feel this is light but meh

I mean by matching you will not be able to sign another one of motte/copp/strome/vatrano this year, plus taking on the risk of thinking you can "play him in the top 6 and hope he gains more value taker" seems a bit far fetched. You're suggesting they let a key piece walk to get a 2nd and a prospect, instead of keeping a key piece and only getting a 2nd
