I don't even know that this is the right thing to do. You can trade PLD without burning it down. But if this team is unsalvageable... This team is meant to be good after 2 years, which is why I'm keeping the likes of Ehlers, Pionk, and Schmidt. Klingberg is here to prove himself and can be traded soon, calling up Samberg or Heinola.

Switch Chisholm on the right side and then put one of Heinola or Samberg in the lineup. Kovacevic can be a 7th defenceman in my opinion.

Klingberg almost had a 50 point year in low scoring team. There's no way he signs a "prove himself" deal, he doesn't need that.

Crank up the offers for any retention, and if that many moving pieces there’s going to be more, ehlers/connor/morrissey/pionk/Schmidt/wheeler. Probably capdump central and collecting firsts for next 3 years or any picks for that matter.
