Isles aren’t gonna trade Clutterbuck right after he signed an extension. He basically has a NTC it’s just not official lol.

The cringiest thing I’ve ever seen in sports was his return to Toronto after we bullied him into oblivion for the first time. I was at that Islanders game, one of the funniest nights ever.

There are better options other than trading for Holl and not giving up a 2nd for 1yr of Kerfoot. If Detroit is going to use a bottom 6 forward in the #2C slot it will be Suter.

The CHI move doesn't fit what we are looking to achieve. We would just flip Nylander for futures.

On what planet is kerfoot a 2C? Leafs add in nylander to wings trade to make it more fair for taking 2 cap dumps

Not sure what Schneider has done so far to prove that he is better than Sandin but Schneider is probably going to be better defensively and Sandin better offensively in the long run.

What Panarin has on Marner offensively, Marner has on Panarin defensively.

That trade would pretty much be a 2 for 2 but doesn't make sense for either team.

If they kept Lilly over Murphy, I think the team would be about the same in terms of the tradeoffs but older so, yeah wouldn't make sense at all.

Kerfoot and Holl aren't going to need sweetners to dump.

If you’re overhauling the roster this much you should wonder whether the issue is the players being inadequate or if they’re actually being held back by the team’s tactical deployment.

Then you can keep them if they are so awesome. Trading them to Detroit requires sweeteners, try trading them to a contender

Trading them to Det, wouldn't require a sweetner but they wouldn't give much for them either like a 4th+5th unless they want them (which I doubt they do). Det would just flip them towards the deadline. So, yeah trading them to Det wouldn't make sense for Toronto. They are either going to contenders as rentals or teams who would want to sign them most likely. Or staying as own rentals.

Detroit has 0 use for a 7th dman and a bottom 6 forward and all it does is help the leafs cap hit out. Wings pass on these horrible players all day and it's not close

They aren't horrible players, they are role players that Det doesn't have any use for if they plan to play one of their young RD and don't move their 2LW or 3C/LW.

The only guy Toronto has to dump his cap is Mrazek, unless they want to play him. Holl is probably gone unless they move Sandin. Kerfoot is gone if they are utilizing his cap for a 2LW, otherwise he is staying.

I’ll take it you don’t watch much hockey, Holl has been bashed by Leaf fans but is still a serviceable 5th/6th dman and Kerfoot is a solid 3rd line player that can be played in all situations. Coming off a 50 point campaign, I think he’s earned some value.

First of all, Leaf fans bash anyone who makes a "mistake" especially if it's in the playoffs. Second, you just proved that they aren't worthless.

I'm not saying Det is going to give up assets for them or that they want them, I'm saying Toronto wouldn't need to give assets to move them.

Ignore this post lol, for some reason I thought you replied to me lol.

Don't worry I don't, I'm just pointing out that Tor won't need to add sweeteners because they aren't negative assets, they have moderate cap hits for their capabilities at the very least. If a team that is weaponizing their cap space has a spot to play them.

They will take them for free (aka late picks or unwanted player rights/prospects or future considerations).

I see a lot of Chi and Det fans overexaggerating what it would take to dump guys. The Leafs aren't over the cap

Detroit won't pay for players they don't need and fans are quite correct in pointing out what sort of sweetener that would be needed for a deal to go through for such a player.

What other teams, with other needs and holes in their line-up's, are willing to do have no bearing at all on how much it would cost to send an unwanted player to Detroit.

Mrazek is an excellent example. Detroit don't need a goalie, we don't want Mrazek here, we know him and his antics. Detroit asking for a 1st to consider taking him off your hands is entirely reasonable considering the history and our goalie situation. How other teams view Mrazek doesn't figure into it.
