FWIW, 3 weeks of Ben Chiarot netted slightly less than what you've proposed above.

Giving up on Harris is a bad idea imo.

I don’t understand why habs fans would want to do this. You’d be losing a nice player to add to the rebuild at 26 OA and losing Poehling and Harris at 750k for the next oh idk maybe 2-3years instead of girard at 5mil for the next 5 is not a good idea imo

I would rather bang my head off a wall than have to watch another small French D.

He’s a 24 year old that would immediately slot into the top pairing for Montreal. This is lopsided in favor of Montreal

100% agree with that, and it's the same with PLD, MTL isn't close to be a good playoff team, so do a good rebuilt, keep your young players and your good picks

COL doesn’t entertain that. Poehling is a dime a dozen guy, Harris is even with Girard trades struggling to make the Avs and a 1st rd pick that maybe contributes in 3 years? Not happening, easy no.

Hence it’s a dumb trade from mtl’s perspective. Why are they getting a guy who will slot into their top pairing rn and get better but not actually be of any relevance in making the playoffs let alone making a push for the SC? And in the meantime, lose 3 decent pieces that could contribute a bunch in a rebuild? Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever save for the fact that, yet again, people see French, so automatically send him to the Habs

To be fair: Habs fans make stupid trades for every player, not just Francophone ones.

I might agree with you if Girard only had a year or two left on his deal or if he were an aging vet. But this is a 24 year old signed through 2027. He would become a core member of the Habs through a rebuild. If that’s your take, the Habs should also trade Suzuki and really bottom out.

They don't want them. Hence why they don't draft them. They prefer big strong boys on the back end. Not sure what youre having a hard time grasping
