Hobey Baker Finalists

Logan Cooley, C, Fr, Minnesota (ARI)
Adam Fantilli, C, Fr, Michigan (2023 draft)
Sean Farrell, LW, Jr, Harvard (MTL)
Collin Graf, RW, So, Quinnipiac (undrafted)
Lane Hutson, LHD, Fr, Boston University (MTL)
Matthew Knies, LW, So, Minnesota (TOR)
Devon Levi, G, Jr, Northeastern (BUF)
Yaniv Perets, G, So, Quinnipiac (undrafted)
Blake Pietila, G, Sr, Mich Tech (undrafted)
Jason Polin, RW, Sr, Western Michigan (undrafted)

Tidbits
1. Hutson is the 3rd Freshman dman to reach final-10 (Brian Leetch and Luke Hughes were the first two)
2. First time two Habs draftees were nominees since 1986 (Two Scotts....Sandelin and Harlow)
3. First time two players from Minnesota since 1996 (Crowley and Bonin)
4. First time we have seen three freshmen in final-10
5. Since the 2019 year of the dman (when there were 6 in top-10 including Makar, Hughes and Fox), there have only been 5 total top-10s (among 4 players since Farrance was in there twice)
6. Here is now the full list of Freshman forwards who have reached top-10: Paul Kariya, Zach Parise, Jack Eichel, Kyle Connor, Adam Fantilli and Logan Cooley (6 total). Only Kariya and Eichel won.

Who do you think wins, from someone who doesn't watch NCAA ( and doesn't know these players stats ), I have a hard time seeing Graf, Perets, Pietila or Polin winning since i haven't/have barely heard of them

Fantilli or Cooley. They will narrow down to three finalists, which I expect to be those two guys and one of the goalies (Levi or Perets).

Graf is probably the only guy among those last few “unknowns” that has any shot to be a finalist. He has been the top offensive player on very strong team that emphasizes structured team defense. Knies could also enter conversation as well as he did just win big ten player of the year. Farrell may be handicapped a bit by a weaker conference (ECAC this year has two very good teams in Quinnpiac and Harvard, one decent team in Cornell, and a bunch of weaker teams). Hutson should get some recognition for the season he just had, but will be really hard to catch the top guys. Polin played on probably the best line in NCAA hockey this year (or maybe 2nd best behind Minnesota’s top line).

Huh, must have missed that last year. I'm hoping he signs so that the Caps don't put too much faith into Bjorklund (and don't force Stevenson through the ranks too quickly)
