1.

  1. Strome, Dylan [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Reports say he is not being qualified.
CHI
2.
TOR
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (DAL)
DAL
  1. Holl, Justin
Additional Details:
For a while, I have maintained I don't see Nill driving deep into the UFA market to round out his blueline for 2022-23; although the group of RD available is pretty good. See him waiting this out for for the cap to go up for starters, and with an aging group at forward will be cautious.

Holl is a very dependable top 4 D, who I think would pair very nicely with Suter. The expiring deal means the Stars don't have a long term commitment, but could see an extention made as Holl's contract demands should remain quite reasonable.
3.
TOR
  1. Ruzicka, Adam [RFA Rights]
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
I am sure there are trolls out there that will say Kerfoot isn't worth this, but in Dvorak can net a 1st and second, I think this is more than reasonable for Kerfoot with retained salary. A middle six player (possibly) and a 2nd? Yeah.... fair.
CGY
  1. Kerfoot, Alexander
Additional Details:
**Kerfoot is funneled through Buffalo, who retains 50% of cap hit, because they need to male basement**

Calgary is in win now mode, and in this deal, working on the scenario they loose one of Gaudreau or Magnipane, which puts the Flames in the market for an affordable 2nd line LW. Kerfoot fits that bill..... especially at $1.75 million. Defensively responsible, so will fit into Sutter's systems well - or should.
4.
TOR
BUF
  1. 2024 3rd round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
Pick moved for retaining $1.75 million on Kerfoot. Buffalo need to male basement, and picking up an asset for dead cap space.for one season should 100% be in their wheel house.

I hear this, and I wouldn't pay him $5.75 million. For what Campbell is and what he can do, $4.75 million is where I would sit.

So...... ugh. You maybe right.

But for the moment in time, don't burst my bubble lol

4 for Olofsson, 5 mill from Bishop, 1 mill to UPL if they dont sign a UFA goalie, and 1 Mill to Ruotsalainen puts them over the cap floor

Seems weird to compare Dvorak (4 x $4.45) to Kerfoot (1 x $3.5, 10 team NTC). Not saying that Kerfoot doesn't have value (he certainly does), but I wouldn't compare the two.

I think the weirdest part here is trading Kerfoot (good player) to a win-now team (Calgary) for assets to sign Strome...wouldn't it be more beneficial for Calgary to just keep their assets and simply sign Strome?

Also Calgary wouldn’t trade Ruzicka and a 2nd for Kerfoot lol

I am not high on Murray, but his save % was similar to Gibson’s on an equally terrible team. And at least he’s won stanley cups b4 so maybe a Change of scenery, injury free + playing in front of a good team, etc. 🤞. As long as we get him cheap (multiple teams retain) + pair him with a strong backup (Comrie) - let’s go. Have two young guys with Marlies or get a goalie at trade deadline

Calgary needs cap space, Kerfoot will be 4 times the price of Ruzicka to also play a bottom 6 role. Even at 50% it wont work. Flames pass, look elsewhere

If I was a rebuilding team with Kerfoot on my roster, I'd ask for a 2nd + mid level prospect. But, the Leafs aren't a rebuilding team, so she'd be a pretty moot point already tears of joy

I wouldn’t trade Ruzicka for Kerfoot based on age alone. He’s gonna be a decent player and he’s under control.

Dubie: Ok Jack. I'll give you the 5 mil AAV you wanted

Jack: Price has changed Dubie. It's 6 mil now. Byeeeee

Dubie: Oh ****. I'll have to trade for Murray now

Jack: That's a Kyle Dubas problem. Not my problem. Hey Kenny Holland? Holla at your Boy!

I don't know...pretty cheap for solid production...again, *IF* I was a rebuilding team with him on my roster, I'd imagine there'd be a decent market after a 50 pt season. Solid 2 way guy who can play mid-6 no problem (Not a Leafs fan here).

Maybe you can use the Jarnkrok trade as an example but idk. I don’t think a Gm would trade a young NHL ready bottom six forward for Alex Kerfoot. Maybe I’m way off on Ruzicka’s value but I don’t think so.

Hate to burst your bubble, but with Edmonton clearing some cap space they will overpay a bit to get Campbell. Leafs are going to have to make a trade for a goalie unless Kuemper would sign in Toronto

I don't think you're off on Ruzicka...cheap production for sure. Jarnkrok trade value seems pretty similar to what I'd peg Kerfoot at. Again though, if I'm the Leafs, I'm simply keeping him.

I doubt he will be better than Kerfoot but age and cap hit during a major cap crunch are a huge reason to decline

I’d rather bet on Ruzicka then trade for Kerfoot. There is a path to him being a Nick Paul type player even if the odds aren’t high.

They may be fine, but a 3rd for some cap space they won’t use doesn’t seem like an issue to me.

Argument there.

But I think Strome signs closer to $4 million.

The idea behind the Kerfott deal is a cheap 2nd liner. I hear the arguments, but Calgary will be tight to the cap, and 1 year of Kerfoot for a possible run at a cup waiting out Pelltier (who I see in the top 6 after this season - love his game) can male sense.

Keep in mind, I am assuming the Flames loose one of Magniapane or Gaudreau in this deal, meaning, they will be looking (I think) to replace some.of that production.

See, the thing about your idea behind the Kerfoot deal, is the exact same reason why the Leafs should simply be keeping him. Even with the logic that Strome signs for more (Seems unlikely after being non-tendered), you're still in a situation where you've now got Kerfoot off the roster, and replaced him with Engvall, which is a scary thought.

Oh, I think Engvall is very underrated actually. His transitional game is better than people think.

As for Strome, you need to think about the line construct. He was almost a PPG playing between Debrincat and Kane. Playing between JT and Nylander (players of similar skill) I can see similar production. As for the contract, something tells me his no QO has more to do with a possible arbitration case than the player. If he signs for less bonus, but I really think he gets $3.5-4 million.

Further, Kerfoot sees a pay raise after this season - albeit nominal. Maybe in the nieghbourhood of $4.5 million per of he repeats last season (I think he does), meaning the Strome addition saves a few bucks.

Bunting after this season is gone as well (enter Roberston and/or Knies), so the long term cap situation may look a little better.
