What has Tyle Madden done to deserve that kind of return? Him plus a 3rd isn't even worth Barbashev.

As much as I like Krug, I don't want to give up one of our few center prospects plus 2 high end picks to get him

Siegenthaler, one of the league's best defensive defenders, is infinitely more valuable to the Devils than one year of Vlad the Lad.
Blues would be sending Kyrou, Buchnevich or Thomas back in a trade for Siegs.

Well, Arizona and New Jersey tersely decline, so it's really not even worth commenting on the rest.

yeah he's off here on a 1 for 1 trade but with the first thrown in, maybe closer to the mark. makes absolutely no sense for the devils to give up the best 5v5 defender this year AND first round pick for only a rental.

Not giving up a 1st in the 2023 draft for Krug.

If STL wants Detroits 2023 1st. Kyrou is going the other way.

Uh huh. Nobody said he wasn't great last season. But it's still one season. And even if he was routinely at that level, he sure as hell ain't near worth Thomas, Buch or Kyrou. Good grief.

Oh... and one tweeter's personal opinion is not some gospel proof anyone should be waving around like it's some mic drop. Hilarious stuff.

Plus Krug is small and Yzerman likes big defensemen and since Detroit isn't a playoff team yet that 1st will be a lottery pick. Probably between 10 and 15.

This is not hyperbole.

If the league’s best defender last season is on $1.1m deal and packaged with a 1st rounder, that should get an elite piece back.

The first sentence is not hyperbole. The second sentence is loony.

Not sure what your definition of "elite" is but six 30 goal seasons and close to a point a game over a 600 game career seems pretty elite to me...

One year rental of a winger, no matter the resume, isn’t worth it for us.

Not really loony to ask for such pieces when offering Siegenthaler and a 1st. Blues say no, as I would expect, but NJD should be aiming higher than rentals.

Oh I agree but I'm sure if something like this went down, St. Louis would allow the Devils to negotiate an extension.

His comment said nothing of a 1st. And either way, yes, it's loony. A first and Siegenthaler, who has performed exactly one season of this play and is only 1.1m for one more season does not get one anywhere remotely near a fully extended Thomas. It doesn't get cost controlled Kyrou. It doesn't get a good value Buch. I mean cmon.

Kyrou had one great season, Thomas has had one decent season and one great season. Devils aren't moving Siegs unless you offer the moon.

I never asked for him. I know he's not available. Doesn't change the fact that his value is not close to the three guys mentioned. Who are also quite unavailable themselves.

Saying his value is not close when we all have in fact no idea any of their values is an interesting take.

Well, saying we have NO idea isn't quite accurate, is it? But hey if you can find a team that will trade you a controlled cornerstone piece for a specialist defenseman, I say go for it.

Especially if there are any major injuries to Larkin or Seider and either of those guys are out for an extended period of time. Detroit would be in the bottom 10 again and be fishing for Bedard / Michkov in the lottery machine.

The Krug trade is ridiculous and Detroit has ZERO want or need for Krug. NEVER happening.
