you have to add petersson, bring the sedins back into their prime and trade them at half retained for them to even think about it

Even with the 2023 1st , the isles 100% decline. Dobson is untouchable , there is no realistic path to getting him with including a 29 YO JT Miller in the trade

The Isles are not trading Dobson. Stop reading Ben Kuzma. Your post is basically an insult to the Isles saying a player wants out. Dobson is most likely already signed to a bridge deal and it will be announced Sept. 1st.

Then instead of being sarcastic think of it this way, would you trade Quinn Hughes for Panarin or Kane? No, since they are 30+ which Miller will be when he signs his new contract. If you were moving Hughes you would want elite young NHL talent, why would the Isles want anything different then what you would want for Hughes.

They'd have to include Petterson or Hughes if they want Dobson and even then the answer might be no.

There is not a trade involving JT miller that could pry Dobson from the isles. It starts with Peterson to get then to consider it

No it’s not, young top pair RHD are among the most rare assets in the game. Dobson has minimum 4 years left of team control . He’s not available so to get the isles to even consider trading him the ask will be so excessive that it doesn’t make sense for any team to trade for him

Sure you’ll have to overpay , Dobson is not available. There is no realistic path to prying Dobson from the isles using JT miller. The isles have no interest

I’m not a Canucks fan. I’m simply here to say that no player is above a trade. It doesn’t mean Dobson should be traded, but he has a value like all players have a value

Yeah an im arguing that the price to acquire him would be so insane that no team would trade for him. A trade involving JT miller doesn’t get it done

The NHL was completely different when Gretzky was traded. There was no salary cap and part of the reason Gretzky was traded was because the Oilers were hemorrhaging money, and a big part of the Kings return was like $50 million in cash. Just because Gretzky was traded for a “valid” reason does not mean that magically any player can be traded for. Would the Oilers trade McDavid now? No. Would the Avs trade MacKinnon or Makar now? Also no. It’s not an apples-to-apples comparison

I never said it was an apples-to-apples comparison. I said every player has a price. If McDavid or Matthews are in their final season and both intend to be UFAs have we learned nothing from the Gaudreau situation?

Dobson is 22 and coming off a 50 point season; furthermore, the Isles have nobody in the system ready to step up and take over RD2/3 if they move Dobson. So if you're asking them to trade a player who's a foundational piece from a position where they have minimal depth, you're going to pay through the nose. One year of JT Miller, a couple picks, and a decent prospect isn't going to be enough to make it happen - the ask has to start with Elias Pettersson.
