if i'm NJ i'd much rather Sharangovich, but i guess I could see a fit for Colton on NJ if Wood doesn't rebound. I'm sure there's an alternative trade that could work.

If anything he plays out his RFA days in TB and then goes to NJ in FA if he prices himself out.

If Colton made it clear he wanted out of Tampa, then sure, Tampa would do this. I believe they will try and lock Colton up long term, but due to the cap he may have to take a 1 year deal next year with the idea of paying him the larger number the year after with potentially more cap space. The team certainly can't like him saying he'd like to wear a Devils jersey though, so I could see a trade happening

I still don't understand how Seattle doesn't take him in the expansion draft

I’d prefer to keep Sharangovich. He has been stapled to Hughes on our top line.

Pretty standard stuff. Every player says it would be cool to play for their hometown. From a Flames fan perspective, Gaudreau and Tkachk said that, they didn't end up doing it.

If he wants to play on the Devils he’ll force his way there eventually meaning the Devils wouldn’t have to give up that much to get him if not anything at all. I guess he could go there in free agency.

Both of them wanted to though
Guadreau implied he wanted to sign with Philly but they couldn't clear up cap space
Tkachuk's list of places he would extend in (places he wanted to go) included St. Louis. They couldn't get together a better package than Florida
Don't see any of those factors impacting the Devils. Devils have more than enough money to sign Colton next offseason (or the offseason after when he becomes a UFA). Devils would be able to throw a trade package for Colton because Tampa won't have leverage when it comes to a Colton trade

    Sure it could happen.

With Gaudreau, I would agree, he wanted PHI. He seemed ill-prepared when it wasn't a possibility. Then NJ became a possibility, then he wondered about 11x7 from CGY. I've been to Columbus so I'm not knocking it, but it seems like his camp wasn't entirely prepared for UFA.

Tkachuk could have forced his way to STL, but he didn't and that's a credit to him. He left the team in a better spot than he found it. Nobody thought they'd be getting legit NHL talent back. Point still is though that neither went home. Lots of players don't want to deal with the headache of playing at home.

NJ could definitely get Colton in trade, I agree with that. If he ever hits UFA ever, I'd say it's a coin-toss at best.

Tampa will do what they can to keep him long term, and they'll offer him a fair deal. If he thinks he's worth more(doubtful but ok) and Brisebois realizes he can't make it work, he'll trade him for a good return after this season or sign him to a one year stopgap deal for next year and trade him during the season. Tampa may also be willing to have him play two more years and let him go to ufa if the deal doesn't work. Tampa won't be taking some scraps package for him because a team thinks they'll lowball Tampa. Sharangovich for Colton is a pretty fair trade, but if Brisebois made him available there would be plenty of interest from around tbe league.

I was thinking the exact same thing.
Stamkos said a very similar thing about Toronto where did he sign?
With that said JBB would have to seriously consider it if this were to be offered and I'm a big Ross Colton fan.

    Which is worse?

    Trading Sharangovich for Colton?

    Or trading Zacha for Haula?

Zacha had six years service time and was year from UFA.
Sharangovich has at least three years left and has been a much better player over the last two years.

    Much rather keep Sharangovich.

Sharangovich isn't a "much better" player than Colton, and Tampa probably doesn't trade Colton unless an impactful player like Sharangovich was coming back. Tampa may add something because Sharangovich did have a slightly better year and has the extra amount of rfa years left, but I doubt either team is moving either player.
