Imagine a top 4 of Hughes, Seider, Edvinsson and Hronek that would be crazy

Detroit didn't hit on a 1st round draft pick from 2015 - 2018 and then Yzerman comes in to make a surprise pick in Seider and now look.

Man is going to turn this whole team around, Hughes or no Hughes.

Maybe they do this...but they were slightly better but still not a playoff team the past few seasons and now have lesser ranked prospects in the 2020, 2021, 2022 drafts?
We have Zadina. Keep working on him and hope he develops into a 30 goal scorer he was projected to be. We don't have Hughes. Get over it.

Probably would not have Edvinsson as we would have been a better team and drafted lower....

If Yzerman was the gm, I would like to think the Wings would choose Hughes over Zadina. This was Hollands pick

Oh my heart. ☹️

Sad part is Kenny was never going to draft Quinn Hughes. He was set on on taking Bouchard. But Zadina fell to him and you know the rest.

I'm not sure. Stevie likes big Defensemen. I wanted Hughes so bad going into that draft. ☹️

Kenny also traded the Datsyuk zombie contract to the Coyotes and flipped picks with them. Coyotes drafted Chychrun and Kenny took Cholowski. He did get Hronek with the extra pick.

Very weak take by you. Hardly surprising though.

You're just upset because it true and it throws all your opinions out the window. Hardly surprising though

Have to imagine that the Wings’ last few draft positions are a bit different if they draft Hughes though; probably wouldn’t have Edvinsson, Raymond or Seider to show for it if Hughes helps drag the team up the standings a few spots each year.

No one was upset about zadina at the time so I can't be mad about it now.

I would take Bouchard or Dobson almost before Hughes. I'm also not a fan of Hughes.
I would also like to think that if either of those two are drafted instead that we still be around the same standings.

Wouldn’t have impacted getting Seider since Hughes was in college that year anyways. Maybe instead of Raymond and evidsson they get a couple different players, but maybe the take Holtz or Rossi instead of Raymond. You never really know. But the gap between Hughes and Zadina I think is probably bigger than the gap between Raymond and whomever they might have taken instead (unless they went way way off board)

Not a fan of a franchise level defenseman?

I was. I wanted Hughes. Would've taken Bouchard or Dobson. The biggest need was D. But it was 4 years ago. All teams make mistakes. Canucks got a gift that Day. But I don't think they were happy with the Juolevi pick whatever year that was. Stevie won't hit on all of his top picks either.

Other than size and being a left shot, Hughes is the superior Dman out of that group by any metric. I was originally worried he’d be a one-dimensional PP guy, but his defensive awareness and stick work have proven exceptional too.

Not a defenceman that doesn't play defence. Unquestionably skilled player, who I will admit is getting better defensively, just not a fan of his play. He's going to be a stud for a long time as well I feel.

Honestly that's good to hear, I didn't like his play that much. I'll make sure to watch him more now.

Since he’ll never be the guy to deliver the thundering hit, his defensive style is way more subtle and technical. He’s just great at getting the puck back.

I also like defencemen with size as well too so there is that.

I like to think that, since they didn't really blossom until this year, that Detroit would have drafted the same with either of those other two guys as well.
