Los Angeles has 15 forwards on the roster now, plus prospects Alex Turcotte, Sam Fa-gem-o and Taylor Ward (all on their ELC's) likely for promotion/audition, so it's almost impossible to imagine circumstances under which the Kings would be interested in taking on Joel Armia and his cap hit at any point in the season (and I know that you're talking about February).

Assuming they have to deal with some injuries, some of their young players are underperforming, and/or they don't want to add too many youngsters to the roster at the same time, I think Joel Armia could provide them with valuable experience as a middle-6 winger. Obviously, he would need to play well this year to entice LA to move for him, like in the 19-20 season or when he played for Finland this year.

Guess you can make that assumption but for Freddy Raanta and Koochie to all be hurt or sucking next year a lot would have to happen. Not impossible but highly unlikely and doubt Canes make a move like this unless 2/3 have season ending injuries and won’t be ready for playoffs.

Wideman put up more points than Armia last year and has a cheaper contract.

Armia = cap dump right now

Wideman = an actual positive asset

Horrible, horrible trade for Washington. Not only is Edmundson not worth a 1st, but Washington has absolutely 0 need for a 3rd pairing defenseman. The left side is already overloaded with Fehervary and Orlov being locks on defense and Gustafsson, Johansen, Alexeyev, Irwin, and even Van Riemsdyk being able to competently play the 3LD spot without having to overpay the hell out of Montreal for a 3rd pairing defenseman without any retention. He's overpaid as it is for a 3LD, at least in the eyes of Washington where they just let a 3RD being paid 500K less walk in free agency. Washington isn't going to take on contracts with little to no value, let alone pay a 1st for them.

WIdeman is a small Dman who is absolutely terrible at defending.
Armia brings experience, but yes, he would need to play like he did in 19-20 or on the international stage this year to have any positive value.

It's still a no. Nobody including Minnesota especially is taking on his contract, or him as a person

I totally forgot about Fehervary to be honest. I thought he'd fit nicely on the top-4.

There will definitely be a market for him if he's producing at a 40-45 points pace.

I can see the Canes targeting Allen as a UFA if Freddie wants too much money/term and Raanta struggles with injuries, since Koochie will be ready for a full time NHL role, and Allen can still be a good 1A to help mentor Koochie. But unless he’ll freezes over this year, I highly doubt the Canes trade for Allen.

He's not a good teammates along with his bad contract. You aren't dumping him on anyone or getting anything for him. There's a reason only one or two teams wanted him as a free agent

Time for another list.

1. Armia won’t be traded to the Kings. They have so many forwards already.
2. IMO Wideman won’t be traded. Good bottom 4 d-man.
3. Don’t see a place for Dadonov in Edmonton
4. If the Canes have injuries involving goalies they can just bring up Kochetkov.
5. Edmundson isn’t worth a 1st.
5. No room for Hoffman in Minnesota especially with guys like Boldy and Rossi coming up.

If he's producing at a 40-45 pts pace and MTL retains some salary, there will be a market for him, just like there is/was a market for every player with a bad reputation if they could provide value in the ice (E. Kane, Subban, Deangelo)...

1. They will need experience at some point. It's a reach, but I don't think it's impossible.
2. Wideman is terrible defensively but is a decent PP producer, if Mtl can get anything for him, they should, especially with the prospect coming up this year/next year.
3. Depends on the situation at the trade deadline, but Edmonton doesn't have much depth up front. If Dadonov has a decent season, he could help a team as a rental with 50% salary retention.
4. THey might want him to play a full year in the AHL before bringing him up, and they may want 2 proven NHLer to enter the playoffs. Allen would be a good option.
5. Edmundson is worth a 1st. Source : The Chiarot trade.
6. Probably not, I was mostly trying to find a realistic value, more than a trade partner.

Not much depth? I wouldn't be surprised if they were running Hyman - Nugent-Hopkins - Bourgault on their 3rd line by the deadline. If that's "not much depth" then I don't know what is.
