JT Miller

Created by: CoolHandL
Team: 2022-23 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 1, 2022
Published: Sep. 1, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Wild wouldn't have JT beyond this season of course, but if they want to go for it again - this kind of move would be what I would think they'd have to do. Maybe it's a TDL deal.

Um... really? That has to be one of the most low-ball offers I've seen for Miller. Any deal for Miller STARTS with a 1st unless you're sending a top-four RHD back.

Canucks pass. Don’t need a LHD, Jost doesn’t add much value, and the 2nd would have to be at least a 1st

I'd be down to make it Addison instead.

Not even in the ballpark for J. T. Miller.

The Wild couldn't even afford Kevin Fiala long term, There's no way they can afford a more expensive J. T. Miller.

I did lowball it, but the trade is with the presumption that the Wild would only have him for this season.

Why would you give up Lambos for one year of Miller?

Ask any contender why they give up valuable assets for one year rentals

Not sure what you think a point per game center who recently put up 99 points is worth...

Quite frankly at 1 year and in a cap strapped world, not as much as you think. If someone were willing to pay their asking price of a first and a top level prospect (which you named 2), he would be off their team by now.

Surely you know what offers Vancouver would take. Teams were cap strapped last year, but that didn't stop far worse players get far better returns

Let’s assume the Canucks turned down Chytil, Lundqvist, and a 1st as was reported. I feel like that was a mistake because I don’t any offers this summer were remotely close to that, and even at the deadline they’d be lucky to get a 1st and a prospect. I don’t think many, if any teams want to give Miller term. Let alone pat premium assets to do it.

I could be very wrong but it seems like that’s what the market looks like.

Teams overpay for rentals all the time. Miller is one of the best rentals in the past few years, and has a very affordable cap hit ranging from 2.5-5mil.

I’m aware. It just feels like the market on Miller is much lower than the value the Canucks put in him, which is not necessarily a bad thing. My point was that I think if he gets dealt, Canuck fans will be disappointed it’s not and Eichel level return they’ve convinced themselves it would be.

Eichel return was a first round pick, top prospect, and very good young second line player. Realistically, the Canucks get a 2023 first round pick and A prospect. Not unrealistic. Maybe they get another small asset like a mid round pick. The problem with this trade is that there is no first round pick, and Lambos is an LHD which the Canucks have a lot of. If Lambos was an RHD and the pick was upgraded, this would be a reasonable deal
