I feel like Myers and Zaitsev would be similar in value because while Myers in better, Zaitsev is cheaper and they have the same term.

He had an underrated strong year last year under Boudreau and if he does that again I don’t think it’s unrealistic

Cant see Columbus trading Peeke for a 2nd. Would probably have to significantly overpay for them to consider trading him without their young guys having proven they are ready to take the next step.
That said, this would definitely be a better D corps and significantly improve Vancouver's chances of making the playoffs consistently going forward.

I disagree. Myers had a strong year in a shutdown role last year and- if he does that again, could even have positive value in retained. I think Myers at 5 assuming he has a strong year next year is a solid add to a team

It would be next year with Jiricek, Boqvist, and Gudbranson all wanting roster spots

I see 1.5-2m ret = 3rd, 1m ret = 4th, but yours is close enough that its not worth complaining about imo. Myers contract structure means its less literal dollars which makes it more appealing to many owners.

Think the Peeke trade is fine. Maybe a third pick to even it out. Warpbox is right ... There is no space for Peeke with Boqvist and Jiricek set to take over top 4 within 2-3 years

Coming from a CBJ fan, it’s hard to tell right now. Our D is such a mess on the right side, it’s possible he becomes the odd-man-out, but it depends hard on how this season goes. CBJ are high on Peeke’s potential as a shut-down D (think Savard or, if all goes well, maybe even a Connor Murphy), but yeah, Boqvist and Blankenburg are two young guys needing time.

Jiricek likely won’t be rushed. Unless he shows he can be a day-one difference maker, a la Werenski, I’m not 100% sure I see him *needing* a spot next year, particularly since he’ll be waivers exempt and CBJ can offer him spot duty in the NHL rather than a full time spot.

As a fellow #cbj fan I agree... Plus Peeke took a huge step last year, let's see where he takes it..

Yes we have a lot of very talented guys coming, but they're not here yet and none of them offer what Peeke offers. If he falls down the depth chart the next few years so be it. We need guys that offer grit, size and the intangibles.. making it hard to move Peeke at the moment.

I see that you're trying but I can't see it happening unless Vancouver directly takes Zaitsev

    Zaitsev at 4.5 x 2 years for Myers at 5.0 x 2 years

The cost would be 2nd + 3rd which is not a very attractive solution
