Unless you think NJ is a bottom 5 team this is a good pick up if he will resign. Top line player

Have the rules changed regarding vaccinations in Canada? Last I heard Bertuzzi wasn't vaccinated, maybe that has changed.

1. Bertuzzi will likely be signed for more
2. It will most likely not be anywhere in Canada

and honestly, if bunting has another year like last year or better, he will be getting more too.

(1) Bertuzzi already said that he would love to play for the Leafs
(2) Bunting will be paid fairly

But the thing is he can't sign an extension before even the 2023 draft....no guarantees means no deals

I would much rather have the better player (Nylander) and then resign JT to a team friendly deal than give 10 million to Bunting and Bertuzzi. Bunting is good but he can be replaced. It's clear finding a guy to play on a line with Matthews and Marner isn't that hard. Does anyone really miss Hyman?

This is true, but who can afford to sign him at 7M+.. then ask which of those teams are competing. I think NJ would get him locked in

Devils aren't in their window yet, they shouldn't be buyers. Picking well in the 10-20 range will set them up with another excellent ELC player when they actually do hit their window.

So a lottery ticket player that may take 4-5 years to be a top 6 type player vs instantly becoming a playoff team and building some experience for the window. Interesting choice. Could work but I’d take the sure thing and resign him

Many teams would make room for him if needed, see Johnny G and CBJ trading Bjorkstad. This just isn't logical for the Devils until you talk a 2024 pick after they can extend him.

Could be the right move. I just think NJ is closer than that.

You have to understand why as Devils fans we really see a Ranger fan hoping for this trade only to see us blow a top 10 pick on a player that walks in a year. He's a great player, but not worth the risk in a deep draft.

Hahaha ya I’m not that immature.. NJD fans really have a sore spot with the Rangers. Can’t ever have a civil conversation 🤷🏻‍♂️

You think a holdout in Nylander will take anything less than $10M? If you're willing to give a Marner type contract to Nylander, be my guest

Kinda crazy to think Jersey would give so much for one year of Nylander
And both Brodie's and Muzzin M NTC makes it virtually impossible to a trade them with taking cap back.
Interesting that the Leafs can Bertuzzi for 6m X 7, but the Devils trade three top picks for one year of Nylander.....fantasy.

And that Nylander comments. Do you truly believe any team would offer him 10m? Really?

His career high in points is 80 in 81 games. I don't think for a second 10 million is at all reasonable. Even on the open market. 8*8 is likely the best he's going to get. To think otherwise is ridiculous. JT Miller didn't get 10. Johnny Hockey got less than 10 on the open market. So really how much leverage would he have to ask for that much? No one will give him that if better players are getting less on the open market. And yes I would much rather pay him than give Bertuzzi way more than he deserves.

JT Miller never held out, Gaudreau probably had a higher offer on a table with the Islanders but still took less to sign with CBJ. Nylander is a past holdout and has the same agent as Sandin. If you think Nylander will take a dollar off his contract, you will be disappointed

He has the best value contract on the Leafs. Who cares if he held out, Dubas won. You're just listening to anti leaf bs
